IROC hood on an 87 SC??

Yah it's my first car and I want it to look good. I have a 1987 Camaro Sports Coupe. The interior is gorgeous. I'm getting body work and a paint job done at the end of the month. A few days ago I went to the local junk yard and bought a IROC hood. I would just like some opinions on whether or not it would look good. I need a decision by December so i would appreciate your comments.

(and i don't have gfx. I was going to get some but it looks good w/o them.)

I take it that you mean the hood with the louvers...Yes it looks good...I have an 87 Sport Coupe(305) and it came with the "IROC hood." Not sure if it came on all the 305 SC or was put on previous to me purchasing it. But yes, it looks good.

Definatly put the hood on.. if you can by ALL means get the ground fx's from atleast 85-92... you would be surprised how much better it will look(not saying I don't like the SC's or anything), check this out.

I agree with Leirch, get the ground effects.Of couse you will have to drill holes into your body, and fabricate a support bracket for the rocker panel gfx under your doors to get them to stick out right, and get a Z28 front and rear bumpers to match the gfx,but it will look awesome. When I finished my gfx project I couldnt believe how my car looked awesome, before the car just looked plain but now I'm much happier with it.

Make sure you have the proper hardware when you install it. I was installing my hood and my buddy went and got the bolts. Ge gets in the engine bay and holds the hood as I run and get my ratchet. After a minute of fiddling, I find that the bolts are the wrong thread. He doesn't believe me and wants to trade places. He tries to set it in a stable position and lets go =WHAM!!!= New windshield for me!!!

I have searched a lot of junkyards here and the ones that dont want $200 for it dont have it. Are you sure you don't want to spend the money elsewhere? (Maybe an engine swap?) I bought heads after deciding it was hopeless.

Try some 90-92 louvers. I think they look pretty good on my IROC.

Yes they do look good. In fact anything looks better than the flat hood.

thanks for the help......i'm definately going to put on the hood....the gfx however i doubt my car will have them....i can't find a junkyard w/ all of the gfx and i cant afford the 500 bucks to order them....i'm most likely going to get a camaro w/ a 305 or some version of an v8 in a year or two......this is just my first car to get used to driving.....when i get my new camaro i'll worry about going all out for it.....
