Best Way to Clean/Paint Alum Parts?
Whats the best way to clean and paint aluminum parts?
I need to clean and paint the A.I.R. pump on my 89.
Was thinking of sanding with some 400 grit sandpaper, paint with Zinc primer and them some silver paint.
Any other suggestions?

I use mag wheel acid and a brillo pad. Spray acid on part and let soak until foaming action is gone from acid. Scrub with a brillo pad until nooks and crannies are clean. Rinse and then dry. Repeat as needed. Shoot some wd40 into areas where water could be trapped, around seals, etc. part should look like new.

After mine was really dry like a week or so I shoot it with clear coat seems to hold up well.
