Re: Post your "All Original" Or "Stock" Thirdgen Pictures
There are some really nice F cars here. Attached is a picture of my 83 Z/28 L69...1 of 3224. Also has the Countour Seats in Briar Brown that you don't see too many of. I have owned the car since 1988. Has not seen a Michigan winter since then.

Those were actually installed at the dealer at the time of purchase. Seems way wrong to install mud flaps on a Camaro, but they do look neat.

Re: Post your "All Original" Or "Stock" Thirdgen Pictures
Thats cool. I've been looking for a set like that. The ones that I have seen have been on the '82 Z28 pace cars and higher optioned IROC's and Z28's. There is a member on here with a '91 B4C RS that has mudflaps on his car as well.
At any rate the take up for them must have been low. I want some because it would help keep some of the road grime off the lower body panels.

What a gorqeous IROC. Your engine compartment is incredible. I realize you don't have many miles on it, but what is your secret to getting it so clean, if you don't mind me asking. I've always been worried about getting too much water in here, thus I've stayed away from engine cleaners, etc. Are we talking a lot of elbow grease or do you have some products you like to use?
Fantastic job!

Re: Post your "All Original" Or "Stock" Thirdgen Pictures
When I got the car, I got out a bucket of warm soapy water, simple green and washed as much as I could reach by hand. I rinsed the engine compartment down with warm water from a water softener spigot I had on the house. I then used a leaf blower to blow out as much water as possible before using towels to wipe up any excess water and dirt. I then wipe everything down with Meguiar's #40. It is water based, so if water gets on it, it will streak, but looks very natural for shows and display after applied. Let's just say that there are plenty of detailing hours in this engine!!

Great looking TA. Where in Wisconsin were you originally from? I'm in the Madison area and have an '88 TA. I gotta get some pictures on this thread.

Kind of glad you posted this pic, I just found out mine is missing the radiator shroud piece (plastic piece that does on top of it around the fan)

Re: Post your "All Original" Or "Stock" Thirdgen Pictures
Here is my 1988 Firebird Trans Am w/ WS6 suspension. I am the original owner. I ordered this car in February of 1988 and took delivery in April, about one year after college graduation.
The car currently has 47,000 miles on it. Everything is still stock original, except the batteries and tires, which I finally replaced only a month ago. Many people ask if this is the original paint and the answer is "yes". This color, medium maui blue, was unique to the Trans Am in 1988, and not available in later years, even though it was available on the base Firefird through 1991.

Since you have an L69 T/A, you do not have a fan shroud, only the plastic plate that holds the top of the radiator and the two upper bolts of the electric fan.

No way in hell! I'm over 50k now. I'll wait till you get that 47k moving a bit more...
But seriously, ya. Will have to be next year though. Not planning a visit until Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. Who knows what the weather will be like.

Re: Post your "All Original" Or "Stock" Thirdgen Pictures
GREAT LOOKING IROC - Love stock. 1 question; don't the lower stripes on the 89's have the black stripe lower than the color stripes? Has this been repainted?
Here is a picture of mine at the old house. I haven't really driven this thing for years.
I have been collecting some odds and ends that I now started to install. I do want to get this back on the road and enjoy it. No sense to keep it sitting. I think it has nearly ~70k on the clock, but I am over the fact to try and keep cars, don't drive them for no apparent reason but to keep the mileage down. Shoot, wrench on them, shine them up and hit the open road!

85-87 is black on bottom with a slimmer silver stripe on top. 88-90 black on top, silver on bottom. plus a gap between them i believe

Re: Post your "All Original" Or "Stock" Thirdgen Pictures
The car does get driven at least once a week, and we drive it whan we want to drive it. I keep it road ready at any given moment, and have no reservations loading up and hitting the road. Fortunately I am at a point in my life that the car does not have to be a daily driver. Avoiding running up the mileage too high, too fast, is common sense. No point in subjecting it to parking lot dings, road salt, and other hazards of DD. Once the mileage is put on the car, it can never go back to what it is was. You can restore a car better than original, but you can't make it original again.
I want to purchase another very low mile original, probably an 86-92 Z-28 or IROC with T-tops, and will use it the same way as the car I have now. I also have plans to purchase a nice clean stock high mileage car to build it like I want it. Maybe an 87-89 Formy L-98 stick shift car, probably a hard top.

The plate number is L335-BP. It is difficult to read. The plate is a Blue Ridge Parkway fundraiser plate. The new ones have a white background because police complained that the plates are hard to read...

Re: Post your "All Original" Or "Stock" Thirdgen Pictures
Thanks to the OP for starting this tread. I never knew that there were so many great examples of low mileage and original thirdgen's There are some awesome cars here
.
About a month ago I bought another low mile original car to join with Amanda the 86WS6. This one is an 82WS7, and has 24,257 miles on her. She is so original that the hand written paint codes are still plainly visible on the driver's strut tower. She wears her OE Goodyear GT's and has the original hoses and belts. The car runs great, however I am afraid to drive it as all of that OE stuff has to be rotten...The car is very complete and very clean. Everything works.
I am unsure of what to do with the car. I have been given suggestions from static display like a museum car to installing an LS conversion. My gut feeling is to replace the tires, hoses, belts, brake hoses, fuel hoses, and drive the car on a limited basis like the 86.

I also never knew there were this many nice original cars.
Especially surprised by the fact that most of them are 82-84.
I am sure there are still many more to be seen. So come on GUYS POST UP!

I am glad to see the early 1982-1984 thirdgens in clean stock form. So often these cars now are either really nice or really in bad shape.
These cars are some of the most easily attainable thirdgens that you can purchase and GM made over 100,000 Z28's for the 1984 model year so there are a lot of them still around.
Also stock these cars came with the LU5 cross-fire motor or the carbed LG4 and L69 engines. These cars are very easy to swap in a larger cubic inch carbed motor. As I am sure many of us can say - those mods and some of the bad upkeep over the years don't serve these cars well at all.
Everyone who actually took the time to dig for pictures and post them also deserves a thanks.

21 years and 215,000 miles later!
No body or paint work - not even scratch repair. Heads never taken off!
Amazing what clean fluids and regular bathing will do!
