Questions about headlights and front bumper...
Hey everyone, I'm new here and new to f bodies as well...always dreamed of owning one and last week I finally made that dream come true
so cutting to the chase...
Of course I have the headlight motor issue. I found a rebuild kit on ebay that uses aluminum gears instead of the crappy nylon ones. Has anyone used this kit and what was your experience? I also understand that the brushes could very well be worn out as well as the limit switch. I know I could save myself some headache with testing but the only thing I plan on testing is the relay- everything inside the motor I plan on replacing and being done with taking it out again for another 25 years (if it's possible anyway). Can anyone point me in the right direction of these items?
Next, what about some lenses for the fog lights? The kid I bought this car from had taken the fog lights out (I'll get to that in a minute...) and when I got the car from him he neglected to include one of the lenses. Where can I get a replacement at, I've Googled and ebayed and came up with zilch. I don't want to buy new fog lights as the ones I have work fine but I guess I will if I have to.
I'm sure some people here have converted their headlights. Through my semi extensive research I see a lot of people have gone with the "projector" kits- I'm not interested in these as I have seen a lot of claims that they suck and for $40 I can believe it, all I want is a conversion kit that lets me put standard bulbs in (a single bulb that controls low and high beams, like an H4). I do want a bright bulb but I don't want to go the HID route, nor do I want to laser people's eyes out at 10:30 PM, just a light with good output and more of a white color, yellow is for ricers. I DID find an H4 conversion kit but I don't know squat about what would be a good kit, and I don't want to buy something and find out later that it fills up with moisture. Also, would it be a good idea to go ahead and rewire as much as possible with switching to the new headlights? What would be the extent of such an undertaking?
Finally. Where would I go about getting a new front bumper? I call it a front clip but I'll upload a few pics to explain the area I mean. Someone backed into the kid that owned it a while back (supposedly), scratched some paint off and misaligned the clip. I am inclined to believe this but not entirely as to the fact that there is nothing under the car to secure the fog lights to, the plastic or fiberglass is cracked in several places under the car and there is no sign of the air dam. This guy put a 2" drop on the car and then I guess he proceeded to pretend he was in Smokey and the Bandit the entire time he owned the car... but I digress. If it would be more cost effective to repair the bumper than to replace it (I don't know how that would be possible but as long as it works) I would like to know that as well.
I'm planning on restoring this car but I'm on a budget for now-the motor runs fine, the transmission likes to rip your head off when it goes into second but shifts fine otherwise- I plan on restoring the interior & exterior first and replacing whatever breaks mechanically as I go but I don't feel I'll have many problems on that front for at least a little while. Any and all feedback is much appreciated. Thanks guys!

Re: Questions about headlights and front bumper...
For the headlights, buy a kit from www.top-downsolutions.com
For foglights, it depends on what you want. If you want a cheap replacement you can buy a pair of these and they basically bolt in. http://www.amazon.com/Blazer-O-E-Hal...zer+fog+lights
Upgraded headlights, Sylvania Silverstar headlights are a nice upgrade.
