That car has ground effects

 

So does the Black Trans Am in post 40, on the rear of the front fender, and on the rear of the side rocker. They are small, but are still ground effects nonetheless...

 

Where does my car have ground effects? There is nothing on the rear of the front fender that's all steel. The only "GFX" it has are the2 little pieces in front of the rear whels and you can hardly call those rgound effects.....

 

The front fender itself slopes downward like that just before the front wheel on a stock Trans Am? If that is metal and apart of the fender, and not a piece of GFX, then I retract my previous statement...

 

The lower front piece? That's part of the lower valance/bumper area. Without iot there's nothing to hold the front air dam on. If you want to mark that as a GFX, OK. Retract my car, no prob.

 

Nominating a car with ground effects defeats the purpose of this entire thing..

if you read the rules you will see that this month we are doing cars with out GFX

 

Whoa, relax there Twin Turbo. Nobody is asking anybody to retract your car, I said I would retract my previous statement if I was wrong. Do you not think I would have pointed out the Camaro above before yours if I was concerned about GFX? I seen that Camaro's GFX the moment BigKeg posted it and could care less that it had ground effects. My response was towards Lmancha96, because HE pointed out ground effects. If I was that concerned about "your" car, don't you think I would have said something much much sooner? I could care less either way.

I don't care either.. I wasn't the one making a big deal about it.

 

Neither was I. I want to see all of them nominated, because the winner of this COTM is up against some pretty tough competition, and they should be proud when they find that they win. Good luck to all of you...

If I may... The 82-84 Trans Am's with the additional pieces in front of the rear wheel and the front valance piece might barely qualify as a ground effect. If memory serves I believe they actually called them "Spats" I never thought twice about them being FX and disqualifying the 82-84 trans Am with them...

With that said, I am not the judge on this or the final answer or even have anything to do with COTM, I simply want to give my opinion.

 

I don't really prefer birds, but in sc I must say it gets its way. My vote for this texas bird with it being muscle up and unique color scheme (A blue jay on steriod lol )

You my friend are blind. First of all, Twin Turbo's Trans Am deserves to be in this competition because his ground effects are not "wrap around", nor are they MOLDED into the nose bumper, nor do they really help give the car a lowered appearance, so he should be in as far as I am concerned. However, the 82's most certainly did come with ground effects, and you apparently don't see them. The front one's, like already pointed out, are part of the air dam, and the rears are at the end of the rocker panel behind the door...

Just sayin...



Now let's leave it alone and keep the nominations coming, Twin Turbo is IN...

I did make a mistake. ..all I have is a phone to look at pics and didn't see the gfx's on the side....but twin- turbo should be allowed in this month's cotm....

 

Those are spats. "Ground Effects" are side skirts and front/rear lips. A factory "body kit" if you will. Twin Turbo's car most definitely fits the no ground effects category.

Spats were considered AERO for the day, available on the Trans Am. The base Firebird had no spats at all.
