Tpi plenum refinishing?

So I searched here and yahoo for info that I cannot get a clear answer to. I'm gonna take the tpi off the car this weekend and blast it. I've got the glass media and blasting equipment, but for the life of me I can not find out what to use as masking when media blasting. I figured the gasket areas should be protected. Since I have know idea what I'm really doing. Anyone know of a good masking material when blasting metal parts. I know there is a special tape but I'm looking for a everyday something to use.

I just clean the gasket surfaces real well and use duct tape and avoid contact as much as possible.Name: image_zps7fb4d3ea.jpg

Good to know I was considering foil tape like that used on metal duct work in house central air systems. But that stuff is so sticky which I guess could be good or bad.

Re: Tpi plenum refinishing?

That might work you could use rubbing alcohol to remove the sticky . If your just doing a cleaning soda blasting is the way to go.

Re: Tpi plenum refinishing?

It's more than just cleaning PO got something all over upper plenum. I've tried cleaning it with every cleaner imaginable. It seems like black silicone but can't figure why. Anyway I figured I'm gonna have it all off for the AFPR so may as well get the gunk and grime off. Any ideas on cleaning throttle body without having to completely disassemble and glass blast then clean and clean and clean and then having to reassemble. Would hate to have clean plenum and runners and grungy throttle body

As a degreaser super clean works great but don't leave it on aluminum for verry long. Once they are decreased a tooth brush preferably one you are never going to use again lol, and use bar keeper friend or Bon ami . After its dry spray dry silicone lube on the inside where the throttle shaft goes into the tb housing. You never want to glass bead a tb the glass will get in between the throttle shaft and destroy it.
