Bare aluminum care
Hi guys,
reading the article about polishing TPI setups, experimenting on an old alternator casing and achieving a mirror finish, I came to wonder: how does that finish keep up with time in the engine bay?
My rims are bare aluminum and sitting in the open without any coating or treatment for quite some time has caused them to lose their mirror finish and caused tiny pits all over them.
Since TPI setups are also bare aluminum... how do you care for them over time? Taking apart the whole thing once a year would seem a little... "overdressed for the occasion".

Re: Bare aluminum care
Zoop Seal works good...
But one of the problems with the TPI and some of the wheels, they have magnesium in them... which, even if sealed, will begin to turn gray.... from what I've researched...
Anyone else feel free to chime in...

Re: Bare aluminum care
Magnesium... when I first used a copper wire brush to get my aluminum parts cleaned up a little, I did notice white spots on the parts after a couple of days.
May come from that and that's my concern when that thing is polished.
