got my new steering wheel in
Lecarra Thick Grip, powder coated black. looks and feels really nice and sporty.
speaking of which i now have the factory one for sale if anyone is interested in a like-new factory steering wheel from an 89 Formula 350. it has no scratches or blemishes whatsoever - it is like new.
the only issue is that had to snip the led wire because the hard plastic sleave that Lecarra sent in their kit was about 1/4" shorter than the factory one, which led to the horn not being able to activate when you depressed the horn button. also, even though i ordered this in black powdercoat, they sent me polished aluminum stuff the first time, and it took like an additional two months to get the black steering wheel. aaaand the blade connector for the horn wire was too small to fit on the blade (male end) on the horn button.
back to the stock steering wheel, it has the red horn wire snipped, but still, if you have a beat up steering wheel and want a new factory one, that would be a very easy fix. i'll do up a post in the for sale section on that.
but how do ya'll like my steering wheel?
i made a stencil and used flat black rattle can for the emblem on the horn button.

That looks nice! It looks period correct for the interior. You got my thumbs up!

thanks, man. a period correct, kinda almost coulda been stock appearance was a major consideration when choosing which steering wheel to use and how to modify it (black powdercoat and 3rd Gen "bird" emblem. it actually looks more period correct than the factory steering wheel IMO.
