where can i get a camaro r/c car?

i'm looking to get a gas powered r/c car with a camaro body. i've wanted to get a small replica of my car (after gfx conversion of course). i've also wanted a good gas powered r/c car, so i figured i could kill two birds with one stone. any hints on where to look? i apologize in advance if moderators don't feel that this post belongs on this board.

Check a hobby shop. They usualy have other hobby stuff like comic books, gas powered airplanes, model trains. Maybe bicycles. My friend has a 2 speed gas powered RC truck. I can think of better ways of spending $300-$500+ but its up to you

I was on this same hunt a few months ago and I am currently running this combo. I picked it up off of ebay and it has about $500 worth of hop ups on it. It's an HPI RS4-2, its all wheel drive, I currently run 20% Nitro fuel, car has a 2 speed tranny, carbon fiber upper deck, .15 HPI Nitro Star engine, and tons of other stuff. I currently run the Lamborghini Diablo body that came with it but if you want a 3rd gen body, this place has one. Here is a link to the body.

You could probably modify it to look like a 91-92 Z28 if you wanted. I have an IROC and want to paint it to match. I am going to fabricate a front grill insert and hook up some fog lights! If you want more info post it or email me. I am even considering selling the car soon if anyone is interested.

I second the suggestion to go to Tower Hobbies. They probably have the best prices anywhere for anything R/C car or plane related. They probably have kits in 1/8, 1/10 and 1/12th scales that could fit a variety of bodies (including all generations of f-body).

I can tell you from personal experience that towerhobbies does not have any third gen bodies. You can get 1st gen bodies from various places and some places have 4th gens as well but no place has any third gen bodies except custom works. If you want a 1/4 scale body i have another place too but they are very expensive. The best thing to find is a good car then put whatever body you want on it.

Remeber that you don't have to stick with gas powered car. Your best bet is finding the car you want and then ordering it from a distributor(ie: Tower, hobbie Warehouse, etc.) or looking on Ebay. If I were building one I would definately go with an all wheel drive car. Then check with www.customworks.com. They make bodies for $20. If you have any Q's about going electric, give me an email and I'll give you all the information you need.

Good Luck!

Bolink sells an IROC body as well. I bought one through towerhobbies about 3 months ago. I'm not sure if these bodies fit the new touring cars that are popular right now. I think that they are made for pan cars. Does anyone know for sure? I think I'm going to get an Associated TC3 or a Tamiya TL01 chassis.

It should fit the 200MM cars (usually gas powered cars are 200). The electric cars are only 190MM, not wide enought to fit the pan car bodies.
