Just bought some of the new synthetic Meguiars wax to try out on our GTAs, and thought I'd see if anybody here has opinions on it or others...while I can still take it back. LOL. Thanks a lot...

 

Using the Ultimate Wash and Wax, days later, even after on/off rain days and no detailing in-between, the car still shined through the dirt on top. I believe I'll keep using it for this reason. It's now been over a week and she's still shining. I'm no detailing "buff", but I definitely notice a huge difference from washing the car with the local car wash mop soap, to the Ultimate Wash and Wax. The water is still beading off the car, yet has an obvious layer of dirt on top. It works in my experience so far.

I actually just bought their whole line-up of ultimate products minus actual wax. Even the tote bag

I've done my extended cab truck twice and my Jeep once and only used about a inch out of the bottle so far, Wipe on buff off with the fiber cloth and the BEST part..... No white chalky crap in cracks or on trim/rubber.....

 

A synthetic wax wont give as much shine as a natural carnauba wax, but it will last longer (several months). You can use a sealant and then a natural wax to get the best of both worlds. I use a product called Griots Garage One Step Sealant, which is a bit pricey, but it's good stuff. Acts as a light polish and sealant in one. Then I top it with a natural wax called Collinite 845. This stuff has incredible shine and is about as durable as a synthetic wax. Together the two can last up to 6 months.

 

I recently tried the Mothers M3 synthetic wax and loved the shine it put on the Bird. Better than most i have tried. Happy with it!!

 

I tried the Meguiars Ultimate wax on my white Mustang. It went on and came off easy and still seems to be protecting the car a month after. But waxing a white car is easier then a dark car so not the best test. But it does seem like a decent product.

 

I know I'm new here first post yay!!.. but I've detailed cars at a body shop for bout 6 years, we try a lot of different waxes but I bought Mothers M tech from auto zone it works awesome lasts for about a month, but I wash and wax every week so imagine the wax build up on it lol, it is also synthetic

 

get the paint polished to absolute perfection and look into coatings...opticoat, cquartz finest, modesta, gtechniq...etc. application requires more skill than normal wax

 

Synthetic Meguiar's Wax = Exhalant Product

With new paint I had to decide to use natural wax or go totally synthetic .

I chose synthetics.

My paint has never see any product with natural wax in it.

Another vote for Turtle wax ice! I use the spray on wax and the detailer. Quick and real easy. Shines awesomely!!

We are actually retailers of Griot's Garage and Chemical Guys detailing products, among other brands - I can give you some additional insight.

If a coating is synthetic, it needs to be called a sealant, wax is only made from wax from the Carnauba plant (and sometimes other natural waxes). Some have both synthetic and natural wax. Most sealants come in liquid or toothpaste consistency, wax can either be paste, liquid, or toothpaste styles.

There are so many coatings to choose from - pure wax, wax that maximizes shine, sealants that protect, sealants that add shine, wax or sealants for certain colors and finishes. Probably 200 products or more to choose from on the market, most of which you would never see in your local auto parts store.

That all said, I really like sealants, particularly the really good ones like Chemical Guys Jetseal or Blackfire sealant. They do last longer (than similarly priced waxes) and can add a bit extra shine, but are expensive (Jetseal is $39 for 16oz). I usually put a coat or two of wax over sealant for extra protection.

In terms of wax, we recommend three different waxes" Poorboy's world natty's blue ($22 - best value in wax hands down); P21S $35; and Chemical Guys 50:50 $60 (pure white carnauba, 50% or so by volume). Nothing you can buy at Pep Boys or Autozone can compare to the more specific brands like Griots, Chemical Guys, Adams, P21S, and Poorboys World.

Synthetics = Sealer

I never felt comfortable calling Meguiar's Ultimate Synthetic "Wax"

The terminology sounded off, but that's what they have it labeled under.
"Paste wax".

I'm sure what was recommended by paul__huryk above are in a class of there own.

If I had not had such good results with Meguiar's I would certainly try one.
