Re: Dare I ask?! How much do you have in your car?

I have about $7000 in my 86 Trans am so far. I bought it for $5800. Before I had my 86, I had a 85, and I had about $1000 into it. (I got it for free)

Re: Dare I ask?! How much do you have in your car?

Bought my car in '95 for around $10,000 (?) (not including loan interest), spent $400 (????) from a GM dealer for replacing the missing sunshades shortly after I bought it, bought correct wheel caps with emblems (several sets), bought 2 missing badges (of which one is a spare) for $70 recently, new upgraded radio for $140, new speakers many years ago (Infinity 2 ways for the rear) for a few hundred, new decal for $30 (?????) years ago. That's about it unless you count tires and synthetic gear and motor oil and K&N filter.

Forgot, I had a body person repaint one sideview mirror (scratched before I bought it) and 2 minor paint blisters inside the door sill corners shortly after I bought it. Not sure how much that cost.

Are we doing regrets also? A few years after buying my car, (around '97-'98) a Ford dealer had an 89 TTA for sale around $15,000 I wish I would have bought instead.

And several weeks after buying my car, I wish I would have bought the blue '91 Formula the dealer had also. Was same color as the Formula on the inside cover of this book:

Re: Dare I ask?! How much do you have in your car?

I don't know the exact of what I have in my car. I do know it is way more than I can ever dream of getting out of it. It gets more looks than any 30k Mustang or Camaro, and that makes it worth it.

Re: Dare I ask?! How much do you have in your car?

Well, I'm not entirely sure how much I put into the 87 before it was crushed right now (I don't have the guesstimate sheet next to me right now), but I think it had a total of $5600 in it not including the replacement engine and one alternator. Was bought for $1000 and that was brought down from the asking of $1200, and that was still a ripoff if you consider all of the work I had to put into it over the next 3 months to make it road worthy even though it was a complete running car...

The 88, on the other hand, even though it got the complete drivetrain from the 87 and other assorted parts from the same, has over $8000 in it and still needs to be completely stripped (body filler everywhere under at least one layer of the 4 layers of paint) and repainted. It was bought for $900 and that was a complete ripoff if you don't include the extra parts that were on the body (SFCs, strut tower brace).

And lets not talk about hours... I can't even tell you how many I have in both. I can tell you that I've spent a year and a half tuning the 88 and it's not even close to being right (can't get help tuning, self tuning isn't working 90% of the time, and the MSII keeps having brain farts because I think the MSII daughtercard itself was a factory reject they sold anyways ).

In other news, anyone have a good working or possibly rebuilt/cleaned set of stock TPI 350 injectors they're willing to sell? I'm desperate for a set...

I've got probably 7k in my Camaro, my 81 AMG Mercedes project I have 10k in, and it sits in my backyard with no motor/trans hoping I can get to it.

Re: Dare I ask?! How much do you have in your car?

I paid $5k or $5500 for my 149k miles 92 RS LO3/T5/3.42 Posi with a Hurst shifter, Hypertech chip and NO stereo equipment in '99 at the age of 15. Water pump went out on the way home.

for the first 10 years, minor repairs and maintenance and a few years of storage cause i couldn't afford to insure it.

Nothing is finished/complete
$1000+ in stereo (quality not volume)
$500 in interior resto
$2500 in front suspension
$5300 for 01 SS donor car, yet to come is $2500 in swap parts minus the sale of unused 4thgen parts

So, with car price I'm well over $10k but in mods, repairs, and maintenance alone i'm hovering in the $10k area.
