Don't know why not, with the proper reducer. Used it several times myself with a foam brush, always worked well. It lays down pretty smooth as it dries. Does take some drying time which would likely be lengthened if sprayed.

Re: por 15 engine enamel paint
I just used it for the first time and sprayed it, it sprayed out nice, it took a very long time to dry, and the directions state to wait 4 or 5 days before starting it. I usually use urethane enamel on engines and it works great, I still like that better than por 15, I'm worried that it isn't going to be as durable as the urethane.

Re: por 15 engine enamel paint
Ive used POR15 engine enamel many times… its the strongest and best paint for a motor if you prep it right.
Basically the engine enamel is just a top coat… you still need to clean and prep the motor for regular POR15 paint, then cover in POR15 engine enamel. The stuff is BEAST! I even use it inside the motor for oil drain back bc its so stable/strong and self levels to a smooth finish. Don't worry about the temp rating as regular POR15 is pretty high in the 400's*F I believe. I had the POR building like 35min from my house and would drop by to get stuff… now they are gone
I wouldn't spray it… not enough area to cover and would waste a good bit of the paint (its not cheap!). Use a foam or bristle brush (watch for the bristles to come off in the pain). I don't mask anything and tend to paint right over the edge getting alittle on the cylinder decks… once fully dried I use a razor and just run it across the deck surface edge and it cleans the excess right off. Ive also done transmissions in this stuff as its very durable and fluids just wipe right off.
Here is my 521 I first painted blue (its now black)

The C6 trans I painted to match but its now a POR15 black 2004R.

Re: por 15 engine enamel paint
Does it harden up after it's been heated? I sprayed it 2 weeks ago and its still soft. I Hope it will harden after I start it. I painted a block with etching primer and a 3 stage candy red about 20 years ago. It has been through a second rebuild and spent 24 hrs in a hot tank. I expected to repaint it after that, but it came out of the hot tank perfect. That same 20 year old paint shines like new! I wish I had just done that again. Hopefully this por 15 will hold up for a while.

Maybe it's due to what you mixed it with to spray it? Idk.
It does harden up but doesn't really require heat... just time. I've painted and it takes a few days when it's warm up. But I always brush it on. It's a very strong finish as long as the prep was good. It prefers a rougher surface to grip too.

Re: por 15 engine enamel paint
I've painted my engine with it, it seems to hold up quite well. I haven't driven my car much though, but I painted the motor in the summer of 2012 and the paint is still there and not flaking.
I didn't use standard POR-15 as a base coat, I don't think it's what they recommend for this one.
