Not sure if this is the right forum. I have a 1986 Camaro IROC Z28 and among non car people my car always gets mistaken for the weirdest things. Most of my friends, their parents, random people I've encounter usually mistake my car for a Corvette.

The other day I was at a gas station pumping gas and the guy next to me said "nice corvette." I told him thanks but its a Camaro and he said oh. Several of my friends have told me the samething when they first saw my car and a few even insisted that my car wasn't a Camaro. I think its because most non car people, to them a Camaro is a 5th Gen, specificly Bumblebee from Transformers.

My car has also been mistaken for being a Ferrari, some young teen asked my if it was an 80's Supra, another guy I know asked if it was a custom Kit Car, and a girl thought I had a vintage 70's Lambo.

Have any of you guys had your car mistaken for something else?

 

Yep.. Mine has been accused of being a Corvette once. It has been accused of being an "IROC" more than one time. Guess they didn't see the Firebird and Formula emblems on it0.jpg

 

Mine would have to be the worst. I had some guy tell me his parents had a Fiero JUST like mine.

 

HAHA That is BAD! And funny..

 

Especially since it isn't even a Pontiac. Possibly could confuse it if you were horrible at recognizing cars if it was.

 

Yep,i've been told my gta is a very nice looking "Camaro" more then once!!!

 

Damn Joe....that sure IS a sharp Fiero! My friend has a red one just like it!

All my cars are mistaken for Camaro's ALL THE TIME!
And I got asked if I paced INDY with the TTA

 

I drove my car into work when I worked at a place that had an indoor garage. the security guard told me through my t-tops "Nice Viper!" He was serious. and I had a talk with him. he heard about a guy at my job who would drive his viper to work and thought that was it since it was so cool looking

I knew the guy with the viper and we had a good laugh.

 

Back when I had my 96' Z28 Camaro, there was a service tech at the Chevy Dealership i bought it from say "nice Trans Am".... at the dealership.... SMH

 

I used to get the Corvette crap all the time 10+ years ago.

Hell when I bought it back in 2000, I had 2 people in the first couple months ask me if it was the brand new Firebird! I thought that was a major compliment even if they had no real clue haha.

 

I have an 89 RS that has been mistaken for both a Ferrari and a Lambo. I think it's mostly due to the rear louvers I have on it.

 

Somedays it a Corvette, some days its a Camaro.

And Pontiac guys say its a TTA.

 

I'm guessing you also get TRANS AM a lot too?

 

My IROC was mistaken for being the "Smokey and the Bandit Car" once. Which is weird because my IROC is white.

 

Ouch, I think you win.

 

Had a lady stop and say, "my son wanted to tell you cool car, he thinks it's the bat mobile."

Your car is freakin awesome. And the paint is the nicest deep blue I've ever seen.


The Nabors 10 year old son likes to point at my car all excited saying "the race car, look at the race car".


I actually let him touch it "once". He really got a kick out of that.


Does " Race Car " count ?

 

I like fieros. About 6-800lbs lighter. Mid engined. And if last year redesigned suspension so it handles better.

I still want a 88. Would love to drop a turbo ecotec into one.

People keep calling my GTA a camaro... ugggghhhh the ignorance some people have... I mean really, Chevy and Pontiac are two different companies

 

A kid at my girlfriends work asked her "Hey, is that your boyfriend who always picks you up in that red corvette?" Lol.. She said "Yes, he is my boyfriend, and no, it's a firebird formula"

And numerous people ask me all the time how much I paid for my ferarri.. I just smile and say "Not that much".

 

My grandma always refers to my car as the thunderbird I just laugh it off though lol

 

I have a friend who snaps me a video of him singing little red corvette every time he sees me driving.

Also have a co worker who refers to it as the firebird and the thunderbird

 

I have a 92 Camaro RS and I've had people ask if I was the guy with the vette or the firebird. Also my friend has called it a DeLorean many times and he has argued about how it looks like one. His argument was that it has the big back window...
