Re: WINTERS DONE! Lets see those SPRING detailed 3rd Gens!!

Ha! We've got a few more weeks to go here in Michigan. It snowed Friday and Sunday here. There's still quite a bit of salt residue on the roads. Still waiting for a couple of really good spring showers to wash some of that away before taking the T/A out for it first drive of 2015.

I'm taking full advantage my of my first Wyoming winter with my Firebird. The last 20 years of winters were in Minnesota. I certainly know where your coming from DynoDave43.

We've been detailing around here for weeks, unfortunately we have to trailer them around afterwards.

BTW - it's snowing here again this morning!

I have a question about this car.

So...were the 16" deep dish wheels and wrap around rear spoiler "optional" on Formulas, or is there something else going on with this particular car?

I'd be more inclined to say Formula with base wheels and the hatch swapped.

No more calls please - we have a winner!

Base bird with the 5.0 LO3 motor.

That's the way the kid who got it for his birthday wanted it so that's how it was done.

This is what it looked like when I pulled it out of long term storage in Brooklyn a few weeks prior. The red & blue cars both came out of the same estate.

Yea its the original sport coupe hood. I swapped an iroc hood at one point, but it just didn't look right without the gfx so I put the original back.

I've never known anyone to swap out 16" rims for 15" and swap out for the base spoiler. While on the topic, same goes for swapping out a bulged hood for a base hood (unless collision prevents the correct hood, in which case I'd get the vented hood), or adding "Firebird" [or for BJpotter, "Firbird" ] emblems to the fenders of a Formula when they never existed in the first place.

I helped someone swap a wrap around for a base hatch. For whatever reason, they preferred it. The 15" wheels used to be very easy to find. Less $$ than buying new tires for the 16". The Firebird emblem wasn't on the car in the first picture. The Formula decal is what made me think that. Either way, very nice car.

As for my Bird with the emblems, one of the owners before me put them on. I kind of like them myself.

Working on polishing out the fine scratches from a crappy cover I had on the car over winter. I love having a DA it makes paintwork so easy.

Ready for the cruise nights... Got them all out and detailed the other day. Looking forward to driving them, if the snow ever burns off!

TkernIROC86, here are some pictures I took after swapping out a mint set of black 87 seats to replace my grey stained and torn up seats. Got this off a guy who pulled them out of his car 17 years ago and forgot about them in the rafters of his garage. all they needed was a cleaning and replace the piping on the drivers seat. As soon as it come out of storage new carpet I ordered from Hawks goes in. Then changing the fog lights and front parking lights and she is good to go. Trying to get my hands on a set of the Original cargar louvers for the car

Seats look good - where did the embroidery come from on the head rests & the back seats?

I'm probably going to have to go the same route with mine - black seats with the grey interior - nice Grey Custom Cloth 87 seats are like hens teeth!

My White car is coming along nicely - the sun wasn't out today but it was nice enough to pull it out for a pic.

She's a beauty!!! Very very nice!!! I wish I could find a set of louvers too. The 86 ones are hard to find too, and stupid expensive when you do find one. I had them on my old red 86 I had in high school. Wish I would have kept the louvers to put on this car, or make a pretty penny selling!

PurelyPMD: any of the premium upgrade seats from 87 are really hard to find and you have the hardest ones to find, the leather seats. All the car shows I have gone to including the Camaro Nationals in Ontario you rarely ever see leather. Only thing I didn't like with the leather is that they do NOT have the word Camaro stitched into the fabric. That embroidery is a cheat, it was going to cost a fortune to stitch the 3 colors into the seats. The seat cover would have to be pulled off, embroidered and the seat covers put back on, that was the expensive part, That is just a patch I found on ebay and the upholstery stitched it on so that you can NOT see the stitch lines or that it is a patch. cost me $100 to get done. The words 'Camaro' on the seats came from GM like.

My seats where gray and it was way too much light gray, changed the arm rests to black and with the black seats, black dash and center console looks way better. The rest is still gray. Added black replicate floor mats with Z28 stitching and it looks better

That stitching on the door panels was also fake and sagged right away, got new OEM fabric and had them recreated and the stitching actually sewed to the door panel backerboard to make it 'permanent'. All new hardware, switches and bezels and the doors looks brand new. added some accent lighting under the arm rest and in the foot wells

My original gray seats badly faded with stains and rips I sold for $350 US to a guy in PA who drove to the border to get them from me, paid me extra to mule them across to him

Think the gray or black is hard to find, try looking a red interior with those seats

I have been looking for 3 years now, added a want ad on this site, lots of visitors but no replies. Louver just give the car a great 80's look and match the louvers on the hood. I have no idea what these sell for as I have never seen them for sale
