After a lot of consideration I decided to go with the Spectre Extraflow Assembly.
It was $ 100.00 but I got it on sale through Summit Racing for $69.00.
I ordered it two days ago and it showed up today.


I have spent a lot of time comparing the K&N both on line and at the store.
K&N is cotton gauze and Spectre is a "unwoven synthetic media".
It was a toss up, so I went with Spectre.

 

Good looking, well detailed engine bay.

What's with the AC compressor in place, but no hose connections?

I could "not" stand the way the after market pulley looked. Totally out of place for me. This is my only other option for now.

The filter lid on this one has a "much" better flow then the one it replaced. Here's what the bottom of the old filter top and the new.
Its kind of neat because the hole in the bottom of the hood is 15 1/2in. diameter and the outside of the filter top is 14 1/2in.
I use what I call the "play doe" test to confirm and make sure nothings going to hit when I close the hood.
I just set small ***** of "play doe" around the edges of the filter and close the hood slowly then lift the hood to see if there are indentations in the doe. It works really well when your dealing with close fittings like this. There are marks in the doe I used that run a 1/2in all the way around one side of the hole and almost touching on the other because of GM offsetting the engine in the bay. The top of the filter sets close to 1in. inside the cowl opening. That's all I wanted in the first place.
Summit Racing also sent this Crankcase breather with the order because it was a kit that I bought that Summit priced matched from Jegs for $69.99 total to the door. The sale ended two days latter.. Any way I have to exchange it for a different one because it does not fit in the valve cover hole for the EGR system. = http://www.summitracing.com/parts/spe-847622/overview/

The car started out as a wreak that I pulled out of some guys back yard for $ 500.00.
That was 9 years ago. Its my first progect ever and you guys know how it is with these cars. Nothing is ever easy with them, but with help from this site its real close to being done. A few more things like getting seat skins from the Cover Girl at Lethal Interiors should do it.
