Has anyone made the factory blisters operating breathers?
I have a '91 Z/28 with factory blisters, and was wondering if anyone has made them operational. I'm looking to do that due to water colection after a storm, and to let the engine bay breath better.

I have. Not hard. However, if the water collection is your concern, remember it'll drain down into your engine compartment now. Make sure you do it in a way to channel the water away from anything vital (alternator, distributor, wiring, anything electrical etc.).
I used to have pics of them in my photobucket...guess i deleted them at some point. I'll post them again later.

I've seen someone cut holes on the hood and it would drop right after the belt

Has anyone used some sort of a water catch underneath the hood?

Water comes in through the grill/radiator & from underneath....why would water on top be an issue?

Yes shouldn't be a issue, it would drop right in front of the engine.

You might get more info on this in the fabrication section of the forum, but as long as you don't get water on the distributer you should be fine. I would love to do this, and put a water catch tray on the underside of the hood
