Custom Pannel

Hey i was wondering what you guys(and gals) thought of the idea of a custom switch pannel in the spot the ash tray goes. I was thinkin about goin to a junkyard and hackin a small pannel out of another car, cuttin to fit in the ashtray holder and puttin the switches in there. I was wondering if anybody did this yet, or if there's a better spot for a switch pannel. I have a neon kit outside, i'm puttin some neon inside, and i'm thinkin about nos, so it would def. be big enough. Lemme know what u think

another cool option is to use the overhead console. Im currently doing a new panel and adding a digital clock/timer from a sable.<BR>

I was considering using an over head panel and sticking some buttons in there and a digital GPS thing. along with taking apart my radar dector and hiding it in their, since they are illegal in this state.

I cut out that cheesy mileage counter with a dremel and fabbed up a plate using some aluminum I had lying around. Its attached with hot melt glue but some members said it gets to hot where they live so maybe try 5 min epoxy. As for wiring, just run some wires up the A pillar.

i used a metal ash tray out of an 85 in replacement for my plastic one and installed some toggle switches......looked really nice and was hidden until needed.

I made a panel for the ashtray spot out of walnut until I can get one made of billet aluminum. just cut it off with a saw, then sand it down til its square. Then you have to measure and cut the new piece. Not hard at all if you know anything about tools at all.
