Geez, I think people are getting a little touchy on this. I used to love Camaros, but I guess thats becuase I never really paid much attention to Firebirds. When I started car shopping I looked at many cars, and stumbled across a Firebird. I said to myself "Wow, I like this car a lot more then a Camaro." So I ended up with a Firebird. But, this certainly doesn't mean I hate Camaros. I see people bashing Firebirds and Camaros here like they are ***** peices of $hit. If you like Firebirds, then own a firebird........if you like Camaros, then own a Camaro (if you have the money and like both then own both ). In the end, they are basically all the same under the skin. CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!!!!!

My opinion, Camaro. I have owned both, the Bird does have a nicer interior with more options, but...

I like the simplicity of the camaro, all gauges right there, stuff like that. But the Bird seats are way more comfy. Thats why they are in my Camaro now...

What I do see though, is that all Third-genners have very strong attractions/protection to/for their vehicals.

Because we don't agree on who has a better interior or style, or body style, so what, that is normal. A Marriage wouldn't work if there wern't any disagreements. We all still share a common bond, and for that we will always get along.

to sum this up(onse again) i agree that both cars are nice equally in different ways, all i am saying is GM made firebird to be the nicer car, persoanl opinion for people may be otherwise but thats how GM wanted it. I an not saying i hate camaros(as i did in earlier post), like said before firebirds are sleek and smooth as if waiting to mess something up and i will agree that camaros have the aggressive look. Opinions, either car will be the better but all i meant was GM made the firebird to be the nicer of the two thats all.

Nicer is in the eye of the beholder.... if you like smoother,sleeker lines, then a Firebird is the car for you. If you like a more aggressive, in-your-face look then a Camaro is the car for you. I think it was as summed up nicely in an earlier post...if you could compare the cars to animals...

Firebird = Panther...sleek and smooth. Looks aggressive in a subdued sort of way

Camaro = Rottweilder (spelling) .. junk yard dog...Looks aggressive in a " I'm in your face" sort of way...hehehe

I like the "in your face" look personally. Hence I own an IROC.

And to reply to someone who said "Iroc's are for Gino's". I think that was a dumb thing to say...kinda stereo-typing Italians and Camaro owners.. I am not Italian and I own an IROC

Stock isn't always slow, neither is restored, but trashy and tacky will always be trashy and tacky. At the same time, modded isn't always fast, either. When people start to accept this maybe they can get along better too.

If people really want to argue about what car is faster over the internet they need to shut the hell up and go to work. Make money then drive to wherever the other person is and take both cars to the dragstrip. Otherwise its all opinion and horse****.

I like 'em both, but obviously I like the Camaro more. I can't really put my finger on any specific reason. When I bought my first Camaro, I had looked at several Firebirds as well, but the Camaro was in better shape and I've bought 3 more 3rdgen Camaros since then. But, if I had found a nicer Firebird, it could have gone the other way.

 

In my own defense, my car (72 LeMans) is not slow, stock maybe high 17s, but mine isnt stock, but its no 12 second car. Its just a driver. Its quick for around town, gets compliments and thumb up everywhere i go, and sounds good. And maybe 86street should have been more clear, he keep up with my car, close race, he got off the line first (tire spin on my part) but i caught up quick and passed him about 35 mph and we raced till 90, but i will give his car credit, it was on my back bumper. And i have been to his house, its not in the trailer park. His car looks sweet and probably a low 15 second car. The only thing I would change is the rims.

 

in that entire time i was never on ur bumber.the farthest back i went was the door.and the i pulled up again.then u pulled away.so no one knows.but like i said.i was never on ur bumper.

 

17 seconds stock. Mhmm... I'd call that slow. Take a stock 17 second car that weighs 4,000lbs (not too far off the mark I'm sure) add a few bolt ons, probably still a 16 second car. My opinion on bench racing, post time slips or don't talk ****. No one cares anyway. There are plenty of fast yet ugly cars out on the roads and on this message board. If the car looks good and fast its more impressive. IMHO if you buy ARE wheels at Kmart and put them on a Camaro you're tacky. If this doesn't apply to you, then don't let it bother you.

I think the bottom line is that no one cares, just vote and shut up. Or you could pull your *** out from behind the computer, waddle out to your crapmaro and drive to where ever the person you're pissed at lives and both of ya go to a drag strip, or borrow a gtech and take an unbiased third party, do whatever you have to do so you don't have to feel bad about your tiny *****, but quit arguing already and stick to the point of the thread.

Holy crap, I can't believe I just read through most of this. I doubt many will get this far. But someone made a good point. Our cars are very similar granted there are differences. Stop arguing over which one is better. That's just opinion and will go on forever. Either of the two can be modded to look awesome. To me, as long as it ain't a Civic or Cavalier that has been riced out ( you know the kind I'm talking about ) then I'd drive it.
