My dad and I bought the car back when I was a freshman, and this build been quite a journey. I felt like posting her on the forum after all the help I received on here. This forum was a life saver in many situations, so thank you all!
The car:
It is a stock gunmetal gray 88' Iroc with 305 TPI. Bought it from the original owner, who drove it a decent amount when he first bought it, but just parked it in a trailer for the last 15 years or so. As a result, it wasn't in the best shape. It has 110k miles. My dad and I ended up tearing her down and repainting her the stock gunmetal gray. I really like the color, I have to say it is probably my favorite Iroc color, though I may be biased. We also cleaned up the interior, and it is almost perfect now, minus a small rip in the drivers seat that will be fixed shortly.
After finishing all of the cosmetic work and starting to drive it again, we did an oil change. We found that the engine was filled with thick lucas oil . Replaced the oil with some fresh 10w30, and sure enough the engine started to knock. So we rebuilt the engine on our own! It took a lot if time and a lot of stress, but with the help of this forum we somehow managed to make her work. It has been 10k miles since the first start up, and she's still running strong! We also found some 16" aluminum Iroc rims off craigslist to replace the 15" rims on the car. We stripped them down and repainted/cleared them, and they're lookin good!
When we rebuilt it, I made sure to make it a stock rebuild instead of modding it out. I prefer the look of it when it rolled off the assembly line.
Sorry for the essay, but I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this car. (excuse the zip ties holding the radiator hose in the pics, that has been fixed now.) Anyway, thanks for your help! Enjoy!
Thanks for the compliments! The interior and exterior pics are from different times, I took the interior pics after I had pulled it in the garage and the wheels were turned.
