I recently got this car from my father after he passed away. He purchased the car in 2001 and has showed the car in Minneapolis and Tucson. It currently has 29k miles, LG4 305 and 4 speed manual transmission. The options on this car include the Lear Siegler seats, power windows/locks, tilt, cruise, intermittent wipers and TTops. A couple of additional options include the 140mph "Z28" speedometer, the official 1982 light bar and the GM pace car headlight covers.

My 1987 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 has about 28,800 original miles. It is an LB9 hardtop car, wearing its original Flame Red Metallic (74U) over Silver Metallic (13) paint. I am the third owner of this car, and I have owned the car since August of 1998, 18 years this week, actually! The car was also previously featured in the August 2014 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines.
The car remains very, very original and it retains its original plugs, wires, hoses, exhaust and aerowing. I did replace the v-belts, but did keep all of the original ones. The Gatorbacks were sadly gone prior to when I purchased the car.
I want to thank you sincerely for the nomination, and I consider it an honor to have my car included in this great selection of cars!
Anyway, without further adieu, here are some pictures of my Trans Am...

Thank you very much for the nomination guys, it is appreciated. Lots of great original examples this month, good luck to all those nominated. This is my 15,000 mile ‘89 IROC. Here are a few pics of my car.

voted for you Scott. I love that this car was your Dads and I also am a big fan of the indy 500 Z28. rare car and very nice. I am sure your Dad will always be proud of you and your taste in cars as he watches your life
I love every one of these cars and every one of them I could vote for. But that Pace Car is not one you are likely to see very often! Im partial to it because I used to own one and wish I had it back!

Couldn't agree more! Something tells me Scott's pace car will see plenty of future nominations as well. It definitely represents the best of the early cars. Beautiful car!

Re: September COTM **Voting Thread**
Thanks for the nomination! My 86WS6 is a stock mostly original 31K mile car. The car has an interesting history, but is no show car. The Trans AM was originally owned by Amanda Crowe, a Native wood carving artist and a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in the Great Smoky Mountains, North Carolina. During the forced removal, the Trail of Tears when the federal government seized Indian lands and forced the Indians to walk to OK, most of the native crafts were lost. The government made it illegal for native people to speak their own language or participate in their own crafts. Amanda studied art in Chicago, IL than returned to her home and re-established the art of wood carving to the Cherokee people. Amanda has works on display at the Smithsonian Museum, the NC Museum of Natural History, and Western Carolina University. Amanda was the arts teacher at Cherokee Tribal Schools. Amanda also made small pieces that were sold in the local craft stores. Amanda's art works are sought after all over the world and even small pieces command high prices on venues such as EBay. Amanda was also a car collector, and she bought the 86WS6 new from Harry's On the Hill Pontiac in Asheville NC. After Amanda's death in 2004 and her estate was settled her family begin to sell off her stuff. In 2006 I decided that I wanted to purchase a motorcycle for my 50th birthday. My wife Betty was afraid that I might be injured or killed riding a motorcycle, and offered to by me a muscle car instead. Of course my first choices were a 74 TA Superduty, followed by a 66 GTO, however we could not afford those choices. Then I found out that Amanda's 86 Trans AM was for sale. The car had 25K miles on it, and was solid, but had suffered from neglect during the time of Crowe's illness and death. Betty dropped me off with a check for the car. This is getting long, but now you have a pretty good picture of the history of this car. My wife Betty passed away on July 4th of this year, so the car has even more special memories for me than before. Some interesting links.
Lol this is to funny. I'm losing to cars that haven't even posted anything Sad sad day
You have a great car and the digital dash is awesome! I wouldn't put too much stock into COTM; this is fun. Just being in the running is a big deal, and if you don't win there's a chance you'll be renominated now that people know about your ride. The voting each month seems to follow its own path, with no discernible pattern as to what car will win each month.

Charles,
I remember meeting you and seeing your Pontiac at the ATL F-Body Gathering 5 or so years ago. Very sorry to hear about the loss of Betty. Best wishes to you and your family, and I'm glad to see you still have your car. Cherish it and keep the memories rolling - it has an interesting and unique story attached to it, the first chapter coming from Amanda Crowe and the second from your family.

Don't feel bad about losing to PERFECT time-capsule car that probably cost Corvette $. You have a super nice daily driven car and just getting nominated is more than most people on here can say.

Lol thanks guys I'll be ok Of course I'll be ok look what I'm driving!
I hope this isn't taken the wrong way and I hope GASPEDDLER wins this, but I have to question why so many are pushing for and saying it's about time that his car wins? The nomination thread had complaints about how his car has never won but has been nominated numerous times. Now it continues in this thread. His car is nice, but c'mon folks. If a car is nominated and doesn't win, oh well. My IROC-Z has been nominated I don't know how many times, but it has never won. I've been on this board 16 years. Don't you think it's a long time coming for me also?
With that, I want to say that winning COTM is a nice thing, but I will never be upset if I lose to another great car. Since I have never won, I guess that's obvious. My post isn't about the fact that I was nominated and, again, I'm not winning, but to let everyone know that the COTM is supposed to be fun and winners are selected by the members. Nobody should feel that they are obligated to vote for someone they don't want to vote for, because it's been a long time coming. Just vote for the car you like and the car you want to win!!!

Scott,
well said Sir. I hate to hear it as well. I think that you should win at some point as well. Your car is very deserving and you have supported these board for so many years with your knowledge and passion for these beasts. We appreciate you and I hope that others realize it is not how many time one is nominated but the fact that we should feel happy just to be nominated. no one deserves to win based on number of nominations but actual likes of the car and your iroc is a sweet one. I really like your indy car even more fan!
I don't think anyone would ever cast a vote based on someone else saying it "was a long time coming". That's non-sense. If Gasspeddler's car wins, it surely wouldn't be because of voters voting for it because it was over-due. I think Linson and Arnold both said it best when they referred to the COTM as a "fickle gal" and "unpredictable voting", and not the most deserving car always wins in everyones view etc...
They are all great cars, and "may the best car win!" is about all one can say.
voted for you Scott. I love that this car was your Dads and I also am a big fan of the indy 500 Z28. rare car and very nice. I am sure your Dad will always be proud of you and your taste in cars as he watches your life
Just to be clear, I voted for Gaspeddler because of his attention to detail. Not that I should have to explain my vote over some kind of assumption based on a pre-win congratulatory statement that I made. May the best car win.
Like I said, I'm not complaining or whining that I'm not winning. I hope that's not the take-away here. Honestly, I "almost" voted for GASPEDDLER this month because I love the blue '89 IROC-Z. I wish I could own his car now that it's all detailed and NOS correct. I was just questioning all of the comments in the nomination thread and here about how he hasn't won yet and the travesty of such losses!
GASPEDDLER, I'm going to reach out to the photographer that produces the annual CAMARO calendar that you see in the malls around the holidays. He will not use anybody else's photos but his own and he's in California, so you might be close enough for him to photo your car. I'd love to see your car be one of 13 used in a 12 month calendar. That would provide some bragging rights for you (and the 3rd gen community). Would you be ok with that?

There are a bunch of great cars again this month... But I have to say, if we were going for "attention to detail" photos, I personally would have posted much more detailed photos... I personally, initially, left it to mostly overall shots of the car.
Well, if we're going for attention to detail, I need my vote changed to GASPEDDLER or StuartS. My car should not be in the running based on detail. My car needs a lot of work and is nowhere near as clean under the hood as those two. Good luck guys. I'm thinking this months judging is almost finished.
I thought it was "Stock Third Gens" Car of the Month???
It's turned into "Stock Third Gens with so much Attention to Detail you can eat off the engine bay or tire treads and never looked this good from factory" voting thread.

To clarify, I didn't post the "detail" pictures for purposes of more votes, but to illustrate how ridiculous this post (which is supposed to be "fun") has become. I literally walked around the car to take the most ridiculous pictures I could, to prove a point.
Perhaps just whole exterior shots, interior shots, and complete engine bay shots should be the requirement going forward to avoid ridiculousness like this...
Again, good luck to all... There are some spectacular cars in this thread!

I agree this should be fun...win or lose I look at COTM as an opportunity to showcase my car and to document my car on this forum for the future. If posting additional photos of my car is creating "ridiculousness" in the eyes of some then I will gladly take them down.

I think it's completely relevant on a forum such a History & Restoration... But maybe not for COTM.
I think it's completely relevant on a forum such a History & Restoration... But maybe not for COTM.
I disagree. Or maybe not...
Firstly, there has been nothing inappropriate or "over the top" about any of the photos that have been posted by anyone thus far.
Winning isn't everything, and this contest is not something to be taken too seriously, but it IS a competition, and the aim IS to win. To do this, one must try to convince as many voters as possible that theirs is the finest car in the competition. To that end, posting pictures that showcase the "extent of detail" that has gone into your car, down to whatever minor component or system, is well within the bounds of fairness and sensibility as it pertains to this contest. And obviously, the COTM Voting Thread is precisely the forum to do this.
Having said that, I think I agree with Stuart's point that [outside of "winning COTM purposes"], it would be more appropriate (and of better service) to create a stand alone thread either here in Detailing and Appearance or in History and Originality.
I commend anyone for going through the trouble they do to make their car super-clean and great. Threads with POLO Z03 and Chazmans car show the hard work and dedication these guys go through and I commend them for their pride in their work and trouble they go through to get their cars where they are. More pictures.. don't have a problem with that.. Still voting for the coolest car in the bunch no matter if it has brake dust on it or not though.. Lol
