Buying a rough TA?????

Is this a good deal. There is this 1989 TA, red with black honey comb wheels, t-tops,5.0 TPI automatic, with all that power crap too. There is some rust because it is in Wisconsin. There is also a scrape on the quarter panel from just sitting there. The exhaust is non-existant. They are asking 2900 for it, my brother and I are going too test drive it tomarrow. I think if it runs pretty good for 136K miles I'll offer 2100-2200. Do you think this is a good deal/offer. I really like these TA's and you dont see many of them up in Wisconsin.

I think around 2K is probably right, think outside the "Wisconsin box" I bought my GTA off Ebay from WV just to get a decent deal on exactly what I wanted. If it's not everything it's cracked up to be keep looking, there's plenty of fish in the sea! Good luck and happy hunting!

if the exhaust is gone i bet the whole undercarrage is a flinstone mobile, i would strongly advise you to NOT get a car thats from wisconsin, upper illinois, or any other northern state, they will allways be rust heaps upless you get lucky, i've learned my lesson on rough cars that seem like a good deal at first, but belive me it will just be a nightmare down the road and you will sink a fortune into it to get it decent. if the car is completly soild then its a diffrent story but i would get under and look at the undercarrage.

Re: Buying a rough TA?????

That seems pretty high. I got my T/A for only a $1000. Shop around some more...

Rule of thumb, never get anything with rust.. never, its just a rule... engine/mechanical problems are MUCH easier to fix(cheaper most of the time).

I agree with the "never buy rust" comments. Check out my website. I bought mine for $800. You need to start REALLY cheap because you will want to replace or upgrade alot. Start with a solid body. Good Luck!
