Re: Wrap around spoiler alternative

Looks kind of cheap as-is, but painted I think it would look good.

My wraparound is still in decent shape, but has some cracking on parts where luckily you don't see it. But it will only get worse over time. Thinking or ordering one from Hawks or maybe just finding a simple wing spoiler. Why did they have to make those damn spoilers out of this soft plastic material? Even on cars that were really well cared for they seem to eventually deteriorate. Fiberglass would have been lighter and more durable.

Re: Wrap around spoiler alternative

Unfortunately the factory spoilers all deteriorate with time. I bought my 87 new and it has led a pampered life. It has hardly ever seen rain or snow and always garaged. Even with all that my spoiler perished about 4 years ago. The metal internal frame deteriorates and the outer shell cracks.
The only good alternative is to buy a Hawk's spoiler. All the others are of less quality and just as expensive. It looks good on the car and saves a considerable amount of weight.

I think the weight had to do with functionality of the wing,I replaced mine with a Hawks fiberglass awhile ago.
