I'm not sure which board has the guy's that are wheel gurus so I'll post this is appearance, and body.
I want an idea of what some stock fbody wheels weigh. I want to see what wheels are the best looking and lightest for the dollar.
My Formula's wheels are soooo heavy. I haven't weighed them with the tires off though. Anybody who has weighed a stock wheel with the tire off post it on here. Especially looking for the weight of the early 4th gen Z28 saw blade design since they are probably the cheapest 4th gen wheels. I'm thinking of going with a 4th gen rear end to get posi and rear disc, so 4th gen wheels would be the perfect replacement wheels.

If you do get a 4th gen rear end you might as well get the late model SS or Z28 wheels..i've seen sets for 750-1000 on Ebay which seems fairly cheap to me for chrome
If you're concerned about weight of the wheels why not get DragLites or Pro Stars from Weld or Crager? Then you won't need spacers, not too mention they are fairly cheap, much cheaper than 4th gen wheels plus the cost of spacers. Plus they look tons better than the salad shooter wheels.

I believe that the GTA wheels are by far the lightest stock 3rd or 4th gen wheels out there. Even if you find a set of 4th gen wheels that weighs less, by the time you add the weight of the spacers for the fronts, they'll be heavier.
But, that aside, there are better wheels regardless of what you want to do with them. If you're into drag racing, the draglites will be better because you can get them in 15" and you can do the fatties & skinnies setup.
If you're into handling, some 4th gen 17" wheels will provide better handling dispite the added weight.

The reason I was asking about 4th gen wheels is because I might get a 4th gen rear. My formula wheels are very heavy. Compared to an IROC wheel they are about at least 25% heavier. I would only need spacers on the front so I think I would still come out lighter.
If I went this route I'm not going to pay anymore than 200-250 for a set of wheels. So the saw blades would be the ones to think about, because most people don't like them and they are cheaper. I actually think they would look pretty good on a Formula since the stock Formula wheel is a saw blade except it has reinforcement between the spokes.
I'm looking for hard numbers on the weight.
