question about front blackouts
question about front blackouts
i want to put front blackouts on my 88 but ive been hearing something about them flyin off on the highway...whats up with that? is there anything you can do to keep them from coming off as easy?
mine havent flown off... i think you have to make shure the mounts are kinda slightly inside the light wells... then the covers will be held in tightly... mine havent flown off at the beltway, or speeds over 100
they ate GTS headlight covers (didnt use the 2 extra mounts)

Yeah, I've lost one before at about 70 MPH. The glue on the mount let go. But I got a new set and made double sure I cleaned the surface good. No more hurling black-outs since then.
My brother has an 85 Z28, and he is on his third pair of blackouts for the front. He had it going pretty good, and they flew off and shaddered . You could superglue the brackets on, that is if you want it to be a more permanent thing.

mine flew off
mine flew off... one of the brackets that held it in place broke in the front section. I was only going 35mph!!! I guess the weather change was hard on the plastic.... Anyways, I recovered the one that flew off....it was pretty scratched up. I'm thinking of putting a limo tint over them to hide the scatches and have some pretty sweet looking mirrored black outs.
well, I had mine for a grand total of 3 days. I put them, making sure to clean the surface real well, even set them back a little so that the edge wouldnt be right at the front of the headlight well. was going down the highway, eighteen wheeler passed me, both of them flew off, only found one, it was in the middle of the highway in about 4 pieces. they ripped right out of the plastic mounts, they were still on the car. just proves how strong that double sided tape is.

Real fast question.....mine didn't fit to well when I had them on.....real tight in there and didn't align very well. Thay were GTS made to fit '88-'92 camaros. Anybody have a different brand that fits better?

I had some that were made by the same company that makes vent shades. I hated them,.....fit with stupid velcro tape. I didn't ever lose one during the time I used them, but they were UGLY. They had a lip that fit completely over the outside of the headlights. But everyone has their opinions on what looks good. I wouldn't advise buyin a set of them. GTS probably makes the best in my opinion.
