They have holes in them where the frist owner didn't fix them properly. He just had them powder coated. I want a clean lookin ride and i think holes in the fender well look tacky and could lead to more rust

That is true, holes in the fender wells is not good I am not 100% sure, but I would say that the plastic fender well covers should come off without a fight. Should be no need for any fender cutting or anything. I am sure some one here has taken them off at some time or another. I am not experienced in that field as of yet I am now trying to install the 4th gen spoiler on my 91 Bird. As I sit here thinking about it, my 89 RS is gonna need its wells replaced, so I guess I am gonna sit back and wait for someone to respond to your thread, hope you don"t mind!

Oh dude! I feel so stupid I thought you were talking about replacing the "plastic liners" Now the inner fenders themselves are whole new ballgame. I have never replaced mine, but I am sure sheet metal work would be in order. Once again I will say, someone else should be able to shed more light on this subject.

Thats what I was afraid of, I dont have the time or money to do it myself let alone pay someone, maybe Ill put plastic over it, it looks like the powder coat they put on it prevented any further rust
