max wheel width with 16x8?

max wheel width with 16x8?

hey ya'llz....i'm wondering what the maximum width tire is for a 16x8 gta wheel.
trying to go for 275's, if possible...

Sure you could fit the 275's on the wheel, but it would look bad(IMO), hurt traction, and wear the tire uneven. Past 255 the tire starts to bulge more than I like to see.

245/50-R16 is optimized for a 16x8 rim. Anything bigger and you're sacrificing performance.

The extra width won't help as much as getting a better tire. Handling will suffer if you run a fat tire on the rear and normal on the front.

well, i'll probably be running 255's or 275's in the front....going for the 'vette gran sport wheels...

as for tire selection, i'm shooting for BFG's...dot street slicks. the car isn't a daily driver. just nice weather weekend kicks and giggles car.
