Will no heat shield hurt new paint on hood?
Will no heat shield hurt new paint on hood?
I just got my 87 IROC painted, and it is absolutely beautiful! But the body shop didn't put the heat shield back on, and I was worried that the heat from the engine might bake the paint on the hood. Am I right?

When I bought my car it didn't have any hood insulation... and all the paint on the hood is cracked - big gaping cracks like the grand canyon. Don't know how many years the car was without the hood insulation. The paint is factory. Gonna have to strip all the paint off the hood when I get it painted.
It's your car, but personally I'd spend the $40 or so and put the insulation back on it...
