What is the difference between..........
Lexan T-tops and regular T-tops? Where do you get them new and how much do they cost?

Lexan tops are a plastic type of material why the regular are glass. My brother said new glass tops go for $1200, not sure how true that is.
Lexan weighs less, but I forget the draw back to them.

Lexan t-tops weigh about 10 lbs each, as opposed to the glass ones at about 25 lbs each.
GM discontinued the lexan t-tops halfway through 91 (from what I have been told) due to a condition called "crazing." The t-tops look like they are shattered from specific angles, but are structurally sound.
Aside from being lighter they are tinted much darker. They are also more prone to flex as opposed to the glass ones.
All in all, I would love to have glass, but as I just got brand new lexan ones (not from a dealer) I'm not quite ready to trade..

My t-tops came in their original GM box, with latches and weatherstripping, plastic wrap, scratch protectant and styrofoam, and the box still only weighed 26 lbs for shipping.

Yep, my factory Lexan tops are cracked all to hell! Really looks like $hit! The glass tops on my '85 Z28 weighed alot more, but looked so much better.

I haven't looked real hard, but because GM discontinued them, they are next to impossible to find new. I've also heard about a possible recall on the tops, but have yet to see a number or details about it.

Better is relative here..yes they weigh less, that is better on race day, but for show and shine or regular driving, glass wins, as it is better looking and more durable and less flexible.
When you live in Arizona, darker tinting is the way to go, but then $50 gets you interior color matched sunshades for the glass ones and the point is moot...
It comes down to what you want.
