OK, I talked to my Dad about it and he said it wouldn't be necessary to take the aircraft stripper to my wheels to remove the clear coat on the non-painted parts (that's all I'm doing for now), he said that the sand paper should take it all off, does this sound right, makes sense to me..
I'd like to avoid the clearcoat stripper, since my tires will be on the wheels.

Well I'm not a pro on the subject, but I'm polishing mine right now I still have the tire on it too. But in my experience it will be alot easier with the remover. I bought mine from auto zone and used a paint brush to apply it, its not that hard at all.
good luck

Use the aircraft remover, thats what im using, I got the spray at auto zone for 5 bucks. I just left my tires on, as long as you try not to get it on the tires, you'll be alright. If you do, just wipe it off quick. Good luck, cant wait to see 'em when your done!

it's a lot more sanding that way, but eventually you can sand right through all the clearcloat. I would definitely not attempt it by hand though.
