Repainting Black trim
I'm wanting to repaint the black trim around the rear window as well as the door locks cause they're all starting to show metal. It looked to me like it was just a flat black, so I was wondering if I could just sand it down to the metal and then prime it and use a flat black spray paint. If anybody's tried this, or if you think it's a really stupid idea (I'm having my own reservations about it) please let me know. Thanks, Joe

Everyday flat black will wear off quickly. There are special black trim paints that work well. I think the last one I used was by SEM and worked really well and looked correct.
I would go to an autobody paint supply store and get their suggestions. The door locks will probably wear quickly no matter what you do. I recently powder coated some locks and door handles with good results.

i did a similar project to my car.. i painted the ttop triming the radio antenne, and the locks. i need to paint the triming on the hatch but havent gotten around to that.. i just painted the locks and i only have used them about 5 or 6 times and the paint in the center has come off but everything else is still there so far.

TFM4th, I picked up the same stuff after Mike recommended that regular flat black would wear quickly. After all the masking it's taking to do the rear window, I don't EVER want to have to do this again. I've just got the primer on the back right now, but I'll try and get pics as soon as I'm done. Thanks for the help guys!
