shift knob removal???

shift **** removal???

i can't get my stock shift **** off, does it just unscrew or is it freakin glued on???? help, by the way it's an 88 formula 5 speed if that helps

might be a "c-clip" type of thing holding it on, like on the auto shifters. look on the forward side of the shift ****, it'll be about a half inch wide. pry it out with a screwdriver til you can grab it with pliers. hope that helps...

Couldn't get mine off when I first got the car. I told one of my friends, (who is far more of a car fanatic than I), that it wouldn't come off, so I guess i'd just stay with the stock ****. He said "Nah man, here..." grabbed it and twisted it hard, turns out the previous owner had broken it, then loc-tited it back on.

jux, thanks for the tip, i just got sick of the "i don't wanna break it" attitude and gave it a good torque, and it twisted right off, good times, but, my new shift **** won't fit! bad times, it's my good luck skull, not the cheezy ones, the old solid stainless steel 10 pound skull with the jeweled eyes, too bad, i guess i'll have to find an aftermarket one that looks decent somewhere.
