Whats wrong with the handle? Does it move and just not open the door, or is it stuck? Either way, take off your door panel and check the linkage, see if its binding or came loose. If the door handle is physiclly broken, they only cost like $20 and take 2 nuts to change.

There's a connecting rod that goes from your door handle (inside the door) to the door latch assembly. It's held on by either a metal (older cars) or plastic clip (newer cars). The plastic ones get brittle and break off allowing the connecting rod to become disconnected. If your door handle itself isn't broke, it's probably that plastic clip. You can get one at the parts store for a couple of bucks.

its alot of fun

Ok things you definately need... An interior screw puller.... in not you are asking for your door panel to break, trust me. A new rod <perhaps if thats the problem> A 1/2 wrench. If its just the rod replace rod. If its the door handle make sure the window is up and be prepared for the slow tedious removel of the 2 bolts that hold the door handle in place. Then flip open the retainer and remove the rod. Replace handle and reverse process. Its not that hard its just a real pain

Actually, wholesale price is $35, list is $42. I called today for one for my 86 Firebird that needs an outside door handle.
You can get them on Ebay for $15+shipping

Pep Boys and other parts stores also have the aftermarket handles, those may be the $20 ones...
