Stereo got taken and interior trashed...
All happened in the middle of the day on Saturday. In the store for 1.5 hours. If you ever go to Fry's Electronics, they don't have outside security or cameras. Also, park as far away from the on-ramp to the freeway as possible. Park close to the store and with other cars. I parked at the back away from cars (hate people dinging the doors) and found the car with a busted window, no system, and interior hacked to pieces.
It may turn out to be a blessing.
I'm going to take the money the insurance is covering and redo the interior. I've been planning it (whenevery I got some more money). I had also thought about ditching the subs and amp (college is coming and the car's being stored for months...who needs subs when you don't drive?). Well...insurance is paying full for the stereo and interior damage. Somewhere around 2100 bucks. (Note: Texas law says that no car insurance will pay for more than 1500 dollars worth of stolen stereo equipment. If you've got more than that...start insuring it with your home owners insurance.) So....what to do with all the money????
My plans: (help me revise!)
1.Fix radio pod (its busted after the break-in)
2.Fix weatherstripping (also busted)
3.Sand and paint NEW 97 console (scarred and scratched from break-in)
4.Get the new Pioneer 1.5 din head unit (they stole mine
)
NEW INTERIOR PLANS:
5.All black plastics
6.Set of black GTA door panels
7.New black carpets, sail panels, headliner, visors, seatbelts.
8.Gotta find some TransAm Black Seats (leather preffered - fourth gen preffered as well)
Anybody got any good links for this stuff? I'll be okay with the first 5 items. I think Hawks will help with #6 and #7. What about #8? They're rare, I know. But they're out there.
Any help appreciated!

I had my stereo stolen and my cds out f my 89 Iroc and they also busted up my dash, radio pod, which is connected to the console, so that means new console, and totop it all off I hav liability only. I got a big F--- you from the theives. Bu they didnt break the glass though.

Sorry to hear about your insurance situation. Word of advice: Get what they call "comprehensive"...its liability plus vandalsim, theft, and parking lot/nature damage. Adds about 10 bucks a month to your bill.
My CDs were in there as well. Gonna have to take a loss on those.
I'm also thinking of getting some type of high-pitch super loud siren or horn installed inside of the car. Hook it up to the car alarm...make thieves have bloody ears when they're trying to jack my stuff.

Was this the Fry's Electronics on I-45 S (forgot the crossroad)!!!! My car was broken into there during the middle of the day about 4 or 5 months ago. Sorry bastages just busted my window and tried to get my radio (tore off the radio bezel to get to it), but they couldnt get it out. Lucky for me they didnt take anything else, I had a whole bunch of CD's in there along with a freakin gold ring my woman had given me (I was taking it to get resized). I forgot how much it cost to get my window replaced, but whatever you do, DO NOT USE BINSWANGER GLASS if you need to replace your window. Also, BUY GM WEATHER STRIPPING. I know its Wayyyyy more expenesive than the stuff you get off eBay, but trust me, if you buy it off eBay you will be dissapointed. I ordered a drivers side window seal off eBay, and it was a POS. I returend it, thinking I just got a bad piece, but the piece I got in exchange was also a POS. I went to a GM dealership, and got the real deal. You can tell just by looking at it that the GM peice is MUCH better. It may cost like 2x as much, but you get what you pay for.

I bet it was the same ****** that got me
Its too bad they dont increase security in that place. I bet this happens at least once a month at that place, if not more.

Look at links up top, they have some seats for sale, forgot exactly which one though, Ever wonder maybe its some one from the electronics store?? Just a thought, perfect crime, you know there is no cams or security, and people can tell you when the owners are leaving....
Oh yeah, $10 extra for compreensive my a$$, maybe in texas, I live in Jersey, and they want like $600 a yr at least for just comprehensive, not including liability which is around 1500...

Yeah, Texas drivers have it all right (most of the time...cough...license plates...cough).
GOOD NEWS:
Already ordered (as of 15 minutes ago) a set of mint (13k miles on the car) Ebony Black Power Fourth Gen Trans Am Seats. Not to mention all the black plastics for the inside of the car. This is going to be a hot sumer!
I knew it'd turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
It really is a shame though, how the I-45 Fry's has crappy security (and the parking lot guy has an inside desk job). The way the guy talked, those two outside rows had been being hit about twice a week for a couple of months now. I'm not going back, ever. Great service and great prices...I'm typing on an Athlon XP 1800 right now
....but I'll find some prices a little higher where I can see my car from inside the store.
Thanks guys, and may :hail: G0D bless you and yours!

I have liability only on the camaro simply because well
1.) Male
2.) under 25
If I got comp. it would add another grand to the total. I love auto insurance.
Sorry to hear about your car. I had that happen to my saturn a couple years back. It was the ONE night I left the face on the deck and the next morning I went out to find my driver side door slightly open and my right rear door missing a window. Oh, wait the window is in the parking lot and my back seat. It seems that tinted windows actualy aid theives because it holds the glass together and makes entry quiter. You should post some pics of your new interior when you get it all finished.

stolen radio
wow.
my car was just broken into a few days ago. My father was showing me how to put in a cd player for my car. 3 days later I get in the car and the radio was gone.
I got a another one and now lock my car up at night and take off the detachable faceplate.

Sorry to hear about the stereo. The best thing you can do for stereo's with a detachable face is take the face with you. If you can, I would see about getting an alarm on the car before you put too much in it. I try not to blast the radio when I get close to home. I learned that with the saturn also. It is kind of a becon saying " Hey, steal what's in this car!" I think that's what brought attention to the stereo. Besides, it's a good habbit to get into, your neighbors will thank you for it when you come home late.

That's kind of funny...
I didn't even use my radio all the way there (mom was riding with me) and the thieves took everything while the alarm was going off (it told me so when I found it). Just goes to show you that if they want it, they'll get it. People nowdays are too used to the stupid person just letting their alarm go off. Nobody even turns to look, or care.

Yeah.. its sad too. Though I knew one guy who had a rather "custom" alarm. If someone tried to get in it would flash the lights and shoot the siren but the best part is the loud voice comming from the car screaming "IT HURTS!! STOP!! SOMEBODY HELP!!" The guy demo'd his new alarm one day at college when we were at break. People actually paid attention to that.
same **** here
But,
the car was broken into the week i bought it (at the prev owners house). So I got him down 1000 in the price. I was gonna do the interior anyways, and I had my old stereo (hehe). But what happened was:
The steering column was jacked up...he replaced it with an F--bird column. BUT the key switch was a POS and one day (last week) I couldn't turn the key back to turn my car off. So I had to unplug the dist and battery to turn it off.
Nothing makes a guy feel like his car is a POS when you stop at the mall, pop your hood and disconnect everything. then when people stare you say..."Don't want anyone stealing this baby"
