Does anyoen have a tv in the interior of their car or even just a picture of one? I am looking to put one in my car but want to see some pics, also, anyone have a laptop in their car, i am going to put one of those in also? thanks

i was just trying to see where people mount them, i already have a very small screen in my visor but that is so that i can have a passenger play ps2, but but i want one in the middle or something and i was curious to see how people mounted them,
PS: the one in the visor doesnt work yet, i am waiting until i get the other screen and then i will hook up PS2

First off, how old are you?? I wouldn't go calling people little **** either, and then tell that person to grow up. I haven't been called a *** since I was in f*ing middle school. If I remember right you're a high schooler right? So where is all this money coming from? Mommy and Daddy? *** knows a high schooler doesn't have enough money to perform an LT1 swap into a V6 car by working a high school lucky if its $10/hr job. Most people on this board have been working full time for years and can't afford that. And yes, I may be wrong on this, but did you say that college was gonna be paid for b/c you are such a good wrestler and you are going to get a scholarship? Don't coun't on it. Do you have any mechanical skills at all? Do you have any idea what would be involved with this swap and the hidden costs of doing it? But I suppose you can just write a check for that when the engine shop tells you to huh? I have no tolerance for rich little fuc*ers who run around and describe all the sh*t they are gonna do with their cars because they can. So yes, I flame you, not anyone else on this board, everyone esle here seems to be able to offer some kind of technical knowledge for our cars. Not you, you come on and brag about all the sh*t your car is gonna have, yes, which upsets me. Again it goes back to the no tolerance thing. If you'd been working for 10 years and earned it, that would be one thing, having it given to you is another. So quite frankly if I want to flame you I'm gonna. I would probably tend to disagree with anyone who wanted to put an evoluzion body kit on and a computer screen in their third gen, get used to it. So please, watch what you say to me, hell, take it in stride, and for your own sake watch who you tell to grow up, cause man, I don't think you should be handing out the advise.

 

1st gen I think you need to grow up a little.

As a fellow reader of the board I get the same impression as some of the other members. I wont knock anyone for not knowing what exactly they want to do to there car but your mind changes a lot over the course of a week. I read through a lot of your posts.

You have asked about the evo kits, corvette tailights, viper kits, testarosa panels.

Then you were going to install and LS1, then you said you could get a tpi out of an iroc, and now you are getting an lt1.

In one post about alarms you said you had a 2000 dollar headunit but by your sig you say you have a blaubunkt... That doesnt add up....

Yes this is a flame... I have just met soooooo many people that come off just like you. All talk and no play. I am sorry if this is not how you really are but this is how you appear. I cant seem to take any of your posts seriously. Before I post I think about it and do several searches on the boards and all over the web. Hey dont knock the computer screen... lol its a very valuable tool in moderation. My friend and i just put a 10 inch tablet computer in his car that controls lighting.

Trying to design a system for mine that I can run datacom or datamaster on. That way I can get real time stats on my car and not have to stare at a laptop sliding around in my passanger seat.

Like I said, if you've earned your money, more power to ya. That is perfectly respectable to go out and work for a living, then spend it on what you like, such as what you're doing. I think 1stgenracer is working weekends or something like that, don't remember exactly, but definitley isn't working full time.

 

Actually i work everyday from 5-10 and on weekends from 7-5,and make 11 an hour if u include commission from what i bring in to my wirk. ANd besides, just because i am in high school, why does that mean that i have to get money from mom and dad?

here is my screen and PS2, I have a controller under the passenger side seat, and DVD remote IR reciever under the dash like rite above my right knee if I were sitting in the car. I took the dash pouch off, took it to a leather shop and had it re-done 1/2 size.

heres a pic.

edit: in the pic you can see a ps2 remote wire on the drivers side seat, I took that one out just cause I dont use it and wanted to get rid of wires, the IR reciver has a plug for a remote there if I wanted to play a 2 player game sometime I have the other controller in the pouch on the back of the seat.

As a highschooler, I would like to say that not all of us are punk *** kids who get money from their parents. I saved money pretty well most of my life so I'd be able to get a car when I was 16 and I did. I work about 30-35 hours a week making, well.. not enough. But I do work for it. 1stgenracer, I think you're acting pretty immature. EDIT- Pic removed. Sorry guys, I didn't mean anything against disadvantaged kids. Just thought arguing online is pretty pointless.

you know what guys, i noticed this very thing about 1rstgenracer. every other day it was "ls1 this" "laptop computer that" it all seemed like riff raff to me as well. with all of the money you have, you think you'd have a digital camera to post pictures of your car, but maybe thats asking too much.

I know and understand that high schoolers can and do make enough moeny to have a hobby like 3rd gens. I too saved up and bought my first Firebird in high school (grant it a 2.8) and again bought one my Freshman year of college. BUT......... to buy a car like 1stgenracers (again grant it a 3.1) but it still looks clean, and STILL have money to buy an LS1, what a t56, 4th gen interior, body kit, computer in the car, and all the money its gonna take to install that stuff b/c I'm sure he's not doing it himself, there is NO WAY a high schooler could come up with that kind of money on their own. What are we talking here.... $15-16K here?
Trust me, I know people can save up and buy a car in high school, but it takes mommy and daddy to afford all the listed above. Unless of course he's just blowing smoke up our asses and isn't gonna do any of it.

Putting a TV in a thirdgen or any other car is the lamest idea I have ever heard. How far are you going to drive that the passenger needs to be watching tv. And I doubt thats the reason people put them in the car... I can see it now, running late to that ball game, dont want to miss any, so you got your moronic tv sitting there, then POW! you rear end someone, most likely me. There are only a few vehicles that a tv should go into, an RV, A bus, or a conversion van. A camaro is not a car you are going to be doing long miles in, or camping overnight, its just rediculious. Its a sign of insecuirty... need to show off money. Those who have alot dont need to show, those that have a little <Like the 50k welcome to lower middle class> have to show like they have alot.

 

man I'm just 16 here, and I work 40hours a week wif school. I make abou $1000 a month. I was gonna get a NEW trans am ram air, but decided not to. not cause I didn't have enough money, but cause it would be stupid to spend $450 on insurance EVERY month. so yes a highschooler CAN get a $16,000+ car if they work hard for it.

 

So your saying that you can buy all this crap for your car but you didnt because you didnt have the money? So your saying its stupid. Well folks there you have it 1stgenracer is STUPID and to show off your money go get some of those new hub-caps I think I saw some at Wal-Mart for $20 then go watch a fast and furious dvd in your car.

I feel insulted by this. Yes my TV is in there partly for show, but also partly cause I like electronics/technology. No it isnt on when cruising around town, no I dont watch it. And yes my car does go on long trips some times, I am going to FL with it in June and Wildwood, NJ in 1 week and again in September, Maybe the Trans Am Nationals in Ohio too. So I am not insecure, and like to flash my money, people ask me and most dont even know how much I do/dont have. Hey maybe I even did my mods with an auto loan. Maybe people like you are just so insecure about NOT having the money to do flashy mods that you have to put down people who do.

I have no problems with tv or playstations in cars. Alot of people here do car shows. Others spend so much money they end up having to live in the car. As for one person saying you never take long drives in a camaro. I drove 21 hours straight to meet some friends in New Orleans. A tv would have been nice to distract my overly talkitive co pilot.

I agree with you '86FyrBrd. I don't see what everyones problem is. Why not have a TV or laptop in your car? Hell, I'd consider getting one after all my performance mods are done. Whatever someone wants to do to his/her own car is on them.

 

Its all a matter of taste and what you want. You see opinions vary on this board. Some people like the evo kits, some like the corvette lights. Even if we dont like something someone has done to their car, if all of ours looked actually same this would start to get a little boring. I dont think monitors, dvd players, ps2, vcrs, and all that are dumb in cars. I made the mistake of misjudging size. I mounted a 15" LCD flat screen in the front. It ended up being too big but I bet other people might have eaten it up. Never seen a 15" display in a car front seat. Seen 2 36" plasma screens in the back of a tahoe though.

Oh yeah, the point of this post... Don't call something stupid if you happen not to like it. Like crazyhawaiian said one time. So many people are afraid to think outside of their bubble. When I walk around car shows and I see something gawd awful, I just walk away. Its not my thing but somebody must like it. I still give credit that they put a lot of work into it regardless of my opnion.

It sounds like your insulted because you're doing what I stated. IF you did your mods with an auto loan then you fall into the catagory of those that dont have a lot. My problem isn't with the need to show money either, its the method how.

If you put money in an engine and a good paint job and rims then fine. Its the fact that its a tv in a car. WHY? What purpose does a tv in a car serve. ANd the playstation was even worst, why? Because I saw 2 controllers, I assume one is for the driver, how long are red lights in your town. I didnt like it when I saw it in a ***** and I dont like it in any car. It is a waste of space and money. And a laptop is at least portable but using it for just staying in a car is another waste of money and space.

 

I am 17 and I mad 11,000 last year and a half, so yes i can assume that one could be spending that if it was saved and he started working at 15 with a permit, but i dunno about him, his stories seem fishy...

Of that 11,000, seven was put into the car (i know its a lot, and not much to show, huh? alot of it was in trial and error and high labor cost of fixxing al the problems, d@mn mechanics too expensive, ohh well, I do me OWN work now) two went into building my computer and the rest was just a lot of other stuff...

My Parents haven't gave me anything YET, but the want to buy me Rims/Tires and my Dad/Step Mom wants to give me $1000 for graduation, what am I supposed to do complain and deny? I work hard for my money and I have been doing all of my mods latley.

Don't say that all people who gets money from Mommy/Daddy are ******, cuase I surely am not. I haven't got much throughout life and I am glad that things are starting to rise up.
