Is it your space or your money? No. Worry about your own $hit and let others do as they please. Just 'cause you don't like it doesn't mean its wrong.

Why must people bitch about what somebody wants?

If someone wants GPS w/ a TV, DVD, PS2, and a goddamn movie screen made into the windsheild, who gives a ****?

Let people get what they want, and not have to put up with other peoples ****.

Personally, if I had enough money, id buy 86FyrBrd's car before I bought any other car.

Well, unless its a 67-69 RS/SS in great condition. Or a 69 COPO, Yenko, or Nickey...LOL. Im a sucker for First Gens.

i'm 16, no punk ***, and i bust serious A$$ for mainly cars, maybe admission to the dragstrip/speedway, and us "punk *** kids", aren't all punkasses. i'd like to add, the screen thing, bad call, they didn't make the firebird to be a pimp ride, it's a performance machine, an affordable touch of exotica if you will. what i'm saying is the feeling of a vette, but the wallet of normal folk. don't ruin a beatiful piece of machinery with video games! think of your car as Gran Turismo 3, without the controller!

GT3 without the controller, during car shows all day its GT3 with the controller, it serves VERY well to pass time at shows.

Hey now, when I was I was in high school I lived high on the hog too. Now that I live on my own and make about ten times what I made in high school here's what I have to worry about:

mortgage
home insurance
home owners association dues
phone
cable
isp
cell phone
auto insurance
health insurance
water
trash service
electricity
pool guy
food
entertainment
My car
Tuition, books

any crap my G/F wants EDIT: I just found out, she dropped $50 on some stupid angle soap holders, what's the deal with that, that won't make my car go faster.

so yes, I could afford cool stuff while I was in high school.

But those guys who say that their parents don't pay for anything, I say

You don't have any idea.

show your car??? lol, i belive it was in fast and the furious, lol, that they said "it's not how you stand by your car it's how you race it" in this case i saw "it's not how you play PS2 in your car, it's how you drive it" lol. that stuffs not for me, too much extra weight on race day, but if it floats your boat, do it. if your anything like me your car is a way to express yourself. (personally, i'd consider the PS2 in a 6 cylinder firechicken.)

the extra weight? hmmm, maybe 10 pounds, i have no room to talk, thats my sub right there, my excuse: lil extra weight in the rear for traction off the line. It's obviously but it makes sense, lol. keep in mind, it's 1:30 AM, i'm half dead here, cut me some slack on the comments, lol.

PS: please find it in your hearts to forgive me for quoting the movie "The Fast And The Furious" lol

not jealousy... just reality. Like I said. I had all kinds of cool stuff in high school, I talked all the trash that 1stgen talked.... I can afford this... I can buy that....your just jealous of this....yadda yadda yadda...

I even thought that I knew everything.

Now I know, I don't know crap, I don't "own" crap, and everyones' not jealous of me.

When you grow up, you'll learn that too.
(maybe that's just the late twenty's talking...like I said, I don't know crap)

EDIT... just to stay on topic.. an LCD, functional and tastfully done would be an excellent mod to a car.
86fybrd...Nothing was handed to me either... (maybe that was my dad's greates gift to me) there's were also chores that I did in my fathers house that I don't even have to worry about now. (nobody in my house cares if the grass isn't edged or if dog's nails are clipped...and a million other stupid things.)

What exactly don't your comprehend? But, I also just edited it.

in a nutshell...

1.) High school kids can buy cool stuff.

2.) Stuff isn't handed to all High school kids

3.) This period of your life won't last forever

4.) Things only get harder

5.) Home owners associations SUCK!!!!

okay number 5 wasn't a main point, but it should be.

EDIT: Live it up in H.S... no one cares what you did back in the day when you're 28 (me)

Putting a TV in a thirdgen or any other car is the lamest idea I have ever heard. .
Hmm..... not insulted by that post at all, I just disagree a bit. I'm in the middle of my eT/A project.... installing a 6.5" monitor where the radio & A/C controls normally go. Of course, it's mainly out of laziness on my part... it's hooked up to a 400 mhZ Pentium computer in the trunk (20G HD, 192 MB RAM), to be controlled via touchpad/keypad mounted in the center console and voice control software. The laziness comes in b/c I got tired of luggin some 250 audio cd's around, then got tired of looking thru the 10 or so MP3 cd's I burned for the AIWA MP3 deck... so I decided to keep all my music on a hard drive in the car. Tune selection will be done mainly via a program that links to a GPS unit (my Garmin will be connected).... playlists will be loaded according to driving speed and habit (i.e. slower stuff if I'm driving slower, lots of stops and turns like I'm in town.... faster music when higher speeds are detected, such as when I'm on the interstate). The GPS will be there for navigation aid on trips, a few movies will be on the HD for passenger entertainment, also on trips.... an FM reciever card is also in the computer because my radio now resides in my garage. Also planned (if I can find it) is an engine monitoring program, to run in the background... that's once it's up and running. So you see, that little screen can be very useful if used wisely and with discretion. Incidentally, I'm not high school age, and I wish I still had access to the parents money (j/k)... I'm 31, and my 'vert is my hobby. I plan on having this car for the next 30 years, so I'm damn well gonna make sure I enjoy it... pics will be posted as the project continues, if anyone's interested.

Dave

Cool idea

That is a cool idea making all your music into mp3s and storing them on a hd in the trunk. The only thing i ask is what are you going to do when you get head slap because you are going to bounce that hard drive around quite a bit sitting in the trunk. If you have a way to get it to work, and you do have it working for a while let me know, i might pay you to do the same in mine. I still think the screen for movies needs to be nixed, but for playing some mp3s and running some software with a purpose, then HELLYA

Well, at this point it's more or less experimental. I've done some research and found that if the HD is mounted sideways, you stand less chance of the head hitting the platter if you hit a bump. Also, modern HD's are built to withstand upwards of 20g's of inertia, so I'm hoping things will more or less work out ok. Worse comes to worst, I'll trade out the pc for a laptop unit... the HDs in laptops are mae even more durable.

I have mounted maybe 10 computers or so in cars... No problems with any of the hard drive except one which was a western digital. I blame that on bad design. You just need to be sure to cushion it correctly... I use the think black foam that they use in carrying cases and the kind they ship HDs to you in. Usually 4 inches of that type foam. Laptop HDs are a little more durable but there is a higher cost involved.

awhile ago I saw a 1.5DIN sized car MP3 deck (w/AM and FM) that had an input for 2.5" IDE Hard Drives (the laptop sized ones)at www.computergeeks.com, (they dont carry them anymore)seems to me this might be a bit easier for you than installing a whole computer....though you wouldn't be able to have your car diagnostics. I don't know anything else about it, I just thought it might be of interest....

I was thinking of adding a stove, sink, fridge, bathtub, swimming pool, excercise room, and a pool table to my T/A.

in a few years or month I plan on maybe replacing the PS2 for a setup like the one described, MP3's and engine diagnotics, but not as involved with speed and FM card and all, I'll keep my Pioneer head unit and 6 disc changer also.

that foam padding discussed works GREAT, I have that under and around my PS2 and the thing never skips, or gets a digitized pic or freezes or anything.

Good luckwith the swimming pool, I couldnt get it to fit in the rear well, where did you plan on putting it.
