When I repaired my fender (car was backed into by some schmuck in a lot), I took it off the car, used a rubber mallet to coax the thing back into shape, and then used a thin coat of filler ("Ultimate Bondo", blue can) to get the fender perfect. It was my first try with filler, and that fender is my $9000 fender- took me a week. Imagine that cost at a body shop!

See my other post in the Tech board, where I finally got some answers about metal working techniques. I'm going to do some bodywork soon, and instead of the rubber mallet, I'm going to take a try at a hammer & dolly combination.

You can try to push it back out, depending on where its at. Just crawl under your Z and lightly push back out. Well I hope Azure means that you havent posted in a while and have started posting again.

Well considering Keystone makes a excellent reproduction fender I don't know why anyone would bother screwing around with a used fender. It is a PITA taking off the old one to bang it out use bondo trying to get it smooth with no waves and the worrying about lifting and cracking???? Why I would never put myself through that. I was compairing the fenders on my car (getting replaced and are Keystone) to my friends originals. They are not that much thinner(if at all) and appear to fit like OEM. So why bother with a used dented fender??? I say get a new one and paint it up

thanks

thanks for all of your help I dicided the best way was to take the fender off and use a rubber mallet to pound out the dent it look good but then i put the thin layer of bondo on and it looks almost as good as new just need to sand it down and repaint . the painting part doesnt bother me to much i was going to paint the car any way .does anyone know where i can get the decals for my Z28
:hail:
thanks again for all of the help
