Does anyone have or know any production info on the light sensitive mirror installed in thirdgens? I have owned two cars with this and have seen another. Just wondering if its very rare or not. Thanks.
light sensitive mirror option was rare.
autodimming mirrors in thirdgens were motorized. to dim, the mirror would engage a motor that physically moved the mirror glass up and down. on older cars, the motors often become weak and troublesome.
for the past 10 years or so, cars that have autodimming mirrors factory installed have come with electrochromic mirrors which have no moving parts. reliablitity is much better with these units, and full bright->full dim response time is also considerably faster than motorized mirrors.
