Have someone do it... It is a big PITA. You really need like three people... pullers, the right temperature. Let me tell you as a convertible owner have a local shop do it. Shop near me got the new top and installed it for $500.00... included reattachin my rear sail panels (after they were ripped down from a stereo thief getting at my 6x9's
)
It is so much nicer... also if it just a rear window being yellow they can usually replace that for cheaper... On my top even the canvas was ripped to shreds
good luck,
James

I won't do it myself. I take mine to a local shop I have used for decades that is both reasonably priced and does good work. I'm still on my original top, but I did have them replace the rear window once about 7 years ago. I took my friends 92 to the shop for a new top. Out the door it was around $580. Get the OEM cloth type not the vinyl. Lon

Well I got estimates up here in Up state NY and I was looking at about 500 for the top and 360 for instalation. I searched around and found a good top for 457 plus shipping (made by robbins in the original "stay fast cloth") and put it on my self and it looks awsome and it was a hundred times easyer then replacing my heater core. and best of all I can see out my back window again.
If anyone needs help/advice on the install let me know

I just want to know where are good places to purchase them from. I don't want to end up with some cheesy top that doesn't fit. My roommate got one for his jeep, cost him 450 and it didn't fit for crap! Don't want that to happen... Where are places you guys have found??

after calling several places and talking to 2 local installers they told me to look for a new top made by Robbins and to speend the money on the "SF" cloth(I have herd that SF stands for stay fast or sun fast). the ones mabe by robbins were not the cheepist and the SF cloth adds about 200 to the price but it is a much nicer top than the vinyl. The place I got mine was Auto styles out of dallas texas. the top was 457.95 ans S&H was 20 UPS ground.
the fit was awsome I honestly was amazed how well it just went right on. You must be careful and order the right top I guess there are 4 different variants to the frame/back window. But most websights will tell you fow to measure for the right one. Sutch as:

any other questions let me know I am happy to help

I got my new top from that McLaren place in Florida (anyone have the url?). It is identical to the original canvas top, and cost $375 last august. The install here in central IL was $400.
