B&M crapped out on me

This past weekend I was at a Jack in the box at 2:00 A.M. looking for munchies at the drive through. As I am waiting I put my car in park because its always a long wait at the paticular " jack " I am at. Well as I make my order and attempt to pull out of park, the car wont shift !! To make a long story short, I called my mechanic ( guy who I bought the car from, and who built it as well.. my bud) and we messed with it for about an hour when the people at the "Jack" claimed they would call the cops if I didn't move the car. ( remember I was in the drive through lane and no one behind me could progress far enough to even order their food.. they were still dix about it though) So, we called a tow truck. What happened was the linkage on the B&M broke. Its a flimsy cable from what I can tell. Before the truck got their.. we got the idea to jack the car up and shift it manually ( to avoid a $60 towing fee ) from under the bottom. We were able to shift it into 1st and hauled *** ( as fast as one can go in 1st only) out of their before the tow showed. ( yeah thats dick I know, but that 60 bux would have been put to better use on the cable itself that cost $50 from summit) Was a little tricky though, we had to force the shifter into park while having the tranny in 1st. (otherwise the car would not start) Point to the story, if you ever get stuck in park with a B&M hammer ratchet shifter, its the linkage.

If you ever get stuck with any B&M shifter, it's the cable.

Get the 3 foot HD cable and that problem will probably never show itself again.
