Hi all you FBody drivers!

I'm new to this Message Board and had a question for you guys.

I have an 82 Pontiac Trans Am with the LU5 Cross-Fire Injection V8 Engine w/ T-Tops. I'm beginning to notice that the body needs some touching up. I know what i'm going to do with the body work, but I don't know what color to paint it. It is white right now with the black pinstripes on the bottom.

If anyone could give me some "colorful" ideas on what color to decide on, I would appreciate it. Post pictures of your cars would be great as well!

Yellow isn't a bad idea, I haven't seen any Yellow Firebirds around town except the 4th gen collectors edition. I thought Red, Black or a two-tone of some kind.

Stripes wouldn't be bad either, but I have that cowl hood, so double Stripes would look weird I think. Hmm i'll keep the Yellow in mind, thanks 1982chevycamaroz28!

D'oh!

I almost forgot, I have black interior and plan on getting the 16" Black Honeycomb Rims in the near future. I also want to get the ground effects eventually, so I may have to think of a color that would look good with the added body parts.

well if ya paint it yellow and the interiors black and ur gettin the black rims. u might have a pretty good combination goin on. also if u do get gfx just have the paint shop paint them for u and u can mount them urself, if thats what u plan on doing. also i saw a pic of a camaro it was yellow and had the 2 stripes down the middle and looks sweet as hell. but thats on a camaro. it would probably looks sweet also on a bird. also remeber there arent many if any yellow birds with stripes down the middle. so u might have something going for ya and the black rims too.

oh yeah and the camaro with the yellow and stripes also i think had a 4in cowl hood.

Yeah, the black interior combination was the first thing I thought of as well, and the fact that not many F-Body's have a Yellow/Black color scheme to it.

Thanks for the reply!

make it look like a Formula! they look meaner than a T/A (at least an 80's T/A) and you can save money on GFX. also, viper blue is an awesome color!!!

you know what? yellow sounds cool and all, but i have never seen an orange thirdgen ever in my whole life, not even on the internet. the closest is that one guy with a copper camaro from hawaii. When i get a repaint, i think i may go for orange instead of the same ol' black. Black interior with orange, and those beautiful FORMULA letters on the doors. as of now, my formula is in need of a repaint too. If you do the formula decals, people may call you a poser, but it's really not that bad considering all those "TYPE R" badged nissans and civics and that crap. just keep it real, which it seems like your doing, and you'll have a niiiiiiiice ride

Speaking of Gray, I saw a Gunmetal Trans Am not too long ago. Forgot what site it was, but that guy had an 82 Trans Am and that Gunmetal looked nice.

I've been thinking of Yellow, Orange and Red, but not sure. It's been harder to play with my car since there has been an increase in Police

So if I get a Black or a Gunmetal or some other darker color, it wouldn't be so bad. But those colors are so nice

Hey 1986redbird, I like that color Red. It's not too bright, nor too dark. Would you by any chance know the correct Color Name for that color?:hail:

It looks like a candy color...

If you like that red, you might consider that Crimson red that is on the Newer Caddilacs, from 94 ish up.

Okfoz, funny you should say that, that red color reminded me of those Cad's.

My Grandpa has those new OnStar Cad's and the ext color on this car is not too shabby. It's a Pearl White color. Kinda in between light Gray and White.

My bird is yellow as well, gray interior. (see pics)
Im thinking either yellow or the original black for my Camaro (pics again). But that corvette yellow with black stipes sounds awesome.
