Yet another window motor question...
Yet another window motor question...
I just got a motor that is attached to the regulator from e-bay. My question was is it easier or harder if I just swap the whole thing ?
And if anybody has done it before please give me some instructions. ( Yes, I read the article on the tech section already, I need the instructions for regulator )

I think it would be easier to replace the whole thing. Just drill out the rivets, slide it out the back, and bolt it back in the reverse order. It really isn't that hard. Sometimes the holes want to be a pain to line up, but just keep working with it and it will fit. Pay attention to the way you take it out. I think the tech article on this site is good, it helped me out a lot.
Yea, but how did you drill the rivets out without taking the regulator off the window? . In the tech article it says "first take the regulator assembly off then drill the motor rivets out "
And also if you used bolts and nuts instead of rivets, what size were they ?

Ok, what i did first was drill right through the door metal with a drill and drilled out the three rivets holding the motor on the regulator. I then had to drill the holes i made to get the old rivets out bigger so i could get the bolts through the door and then through the regulator and motor. After that i got the old motor to come out, and then put the new motor in place once lined up with the gear on the regulator.
When i bought the new motor it came with the nuts and bolts.
I used the tech atricle on here.

I did not feel like messing around with the regulator, so i just jamped the window with something to hold it up in the full position, while taking the old motor out and putting the new one in. It takes time and alot of patience. Do get mad if any thing happends, just take your time and follow the directions on that tech article.
