Turn Signal Lever Replacement?

How do you remove the turn signal/wiper lever from your car? I got a replacement because the wiper part of the lever is shot. I don't want to break anything! Thanks!!!

The actual lever will pop out with a light tug. Anything beyond that, the steering wheel will have to come off.

Well I popped the old one out and popped the new one in, but I still have the same problem. So I gotta take off the steering wheel eh?

The problem is that the wipers only work when I turn the lever all the way to mist. It doesn't click on low and high. So what do I have to do to make it work? Also, my left turn signal doesn't shut off automatically, so something is screwy in there!

Thanks for any help!

The wiper switch is what the turn signal stalk plugs into. All the stalk does it turn the switch, it doesn't contain it. The switch is in the steering column.

He's right, had the same problem in my mother's GMC Jimmy. They are a real bitch to change out also. Other than the lock plate compressor I think the most valuable tool to have for this little "Chore" is a good chunk of wire/coat hangar to run the switches' wire down the column with. Later, Gary

Re: Turn Signal Lever Replacement?

I actually just replaced mine today with # 49277 by doorman. Locked right in and works like a champ. It's usually only models with cruise control that warrant pulling the wheel off. Mine busted on the metal shank so I drilled into it and pulled it out with a screw.
