console question

my car has gray interior with the carpet on the side of the console... but the radio was stolen before i bought it, and whoevr stole it cracked the living hell outta the console in like 5 spots, so its trash lol

i found one in a parts car... but its a red interior and red carpet on the side of it.. before i go buy it at the junk yard, can someone tell me if the carpet has anything to do with it? or can i just unbolt the black platic top part and bolt it onto my gray carpeted side thing? im pretty sure the black thing comes off... but i dont wanna make a mistake hehe thanks a lot

Yeah you can take the red carpet off and put your old carpet on it or just leave it black.

If your bottom portion of your console is OK, you can just replace the upper portion.

Yep console is two pieces...upper is held on by 2 7mm hex head screws at the HVAC controls, 2 7mm and 2 10mm in the console compartment. you'll of course need a T10 torx to take out the trim screws and something to pop the snap ring off the shifter so you can get the **** off...dont forget to change over your console lid, so you can keep your original SPID sticker...if you still have that.

hmm BTW my directions are for a Camaro...bird might be a bit different, but cant be too much.
