Door problem

Howdy all,

When I hit a bump in the road it sounds like my door is loose. It only happins with the window down or cracked. I replace the striker. Can you adjust the door catch? Thanks for any input.

Check to see if the UPPER or LOWER door hinge is worn out. Lift the end of the door by hand, and watch the UPPER hinge joint for any looseness.

Are you sure its actually the whole door? When my windows are down, the windows rattle because the I don't have the inner weather strip seal on, and my felt pads are worn out.

I replaced the pins in both doors. The window seems tight and not loose in any way.

You must have replaced the pins in the LOWER hinge. The UPPER is not replaceable with readily available parts, that I am aware of.

Most of my cars without window frames on the doors had rattling problems with the windows. To eliminate a loose window from your list of causes, roll the window down half way and drive on the roads that you hear the noise on, if the noise goes away when you grab the glass then you know what it is.

NOTE: I never did fix the rattling windows on my cars, just lived with it since most of them were living on borrowed time.
