Anyone got lucky finding those window motor brushes ?

I pulled the back of the motor and as expected the brushes were almost gone. So I went to the auto-elec. shops in my neighborhood. None of them had them, and they had no idea where to get them. ( Maybe they did, but they didn't wanna tell me, because they wanted to do the job )
Now I'm stucked..Anybody have any ideas ??????

if you don't have any luck finding suitably sized window motor brushes locally, you can use a file and alter brushes from another electrical component to fit.

older (~15+ year old) ford alternator brushes are rumoured to work well for this task. try playing around with the online catalog at http://www.autozone.com and http://www.napaonline.com to see what they've got in stock.

are two commonly used choices for brush construction, carbon and copper. copper is not good for some applications since it will generate a significant amount of sparks.
