sorry guys,,,
i was am really up for this but its very unfortunate that hawks have decided to do this...specially since they are sponsors of this site...its been a crazy amount of time since i first got in touch with them and still nothing... i think that i will have to end this quest not because of lack of interest but because of lack of support from a sponsor/supplier..
once again i am truely sorry..

If you want, give them a call. I am the only one who has so far. If we don't get the 5 orders, I'm just going to buy my hood from Hawks without a GP b/c their regular price is the cheapest.

Hmmm Im wanting the ASCD aftermarket big block hood for my 88 camaro. I was going to get it from Third Gen. Resource since theirs is really the cheapest. I got to meet Roy today in fact at the Trans am Nationals. Very Nice guy. I think you should try an get a group purchase from him. I know my hood is 379.00 plus like 75.00 to ship..
Just an idea for you all. Plus maybe he could give us a group deal i know that would help me some..

If the GP is a go, then I'm in for a SS hood. Shipping charges to Canada ought to be nice and cheap (sarcasm)

Well, I contacted Thunder Racing and got signed up for the GP. I was told that I am the only one that signed up so far.
If anyone is seriously interested, you need to call them. Posting on the board doesn't count. If no one does, then I guess I'll end up paying full price for the Iroc Turbo hood.
Just tell them you want to be part of this GP, and they'll know what you're talking about. Then we can all get the hoods at 10% off!! :hail:
At least 5 must respond for this though.
I'll give this a week, before I make up my mind to pay full price.

Hey confuzed how do you like your 305? I am thinking of going near the same route... 334 stroker, etc... I want to keep my car pretty stock considering theres not too many left of the 88 SC's.
I will have to say however your choice in NFL teams needs some work
Go niners! lol

I'll have to pass on this one. Third Gen Resource has my hood for 379.00 and thunder has it for 409.00 plus 10.00 crate charge then shipping. Roy from third gen resource told me my shipping would be like 75.00 so all in all I think im going to stay with them. I got to meet him at the trans am national and hes a nice guy. Oh wells...

Well, since it doesn't appear the GP is gonna happen, I may end up buy one at Hawk's now. That's kindof a shame though, cause the dude that took my call at Thunder racing was pretty cool, and answered all my questions. Fact is, the hood I want (Iroc Turbo) is cheaper at Hawk's. Since I'm on my own at this venture, if anyone knows where I can get one even cheaper - let me know.
I need it to accept the stock hinges though - (no lift-off). BuckeyeROC, I was told that I was the first guy that signed up!
If you don't mind me asking, how much will your paint job cost?? The cheapest I could find (barring Maaco) was 2,000 bucks - and that didn't include the ground effects!
I'm getting mine done this fall - somewhere. I just can't decide if I should throw a 2000 dollar paint job on this rust bucket, or get a Maaco job.
Jstcrzyengh - I love my 305.
I don't have a stroker kit on mine. My car has is basically a stock 305 HO with a slightly wilder cam, and I have TES headers still in my garage that I need to install. I'm putting new door hinges on now, before I get it painted. I must say though, I wouldn't hesitate to run a stock 350 any day. I've owned a couple of 350 cars in the past, and this little 305 will give them a run for their money.
I REPEAT "STOCK 350", so I don't p*ss anyone off here.
Your right - I don't recall seeing too many 88 SC's around these parts.
As far as NFL teams go - My 19 year old son loves San Francisco and the 40 Whiners. JK -
I shouldn't throw stones - my home team actually is....OK, no laughing....the Bengals. I know- I know. But I was born and raised there, so welcome to the jungle baby!! :lala: :lala:
And also - I like the Packers because......I can.

I waited as long as I could, but I'm getting my car painted next week and need the hood. When I called Thunder (yesterday=Monday), they said they only had 1 GP order so far. I just paid full price directly from ASCD (they are closer to me than Thunder=cheaper shipping) and my hood should be here Friday.

BTW, the paint job is going to be $1,000 for everything, minor body work, hood prep, car prep, paint, clear, and wet sand. The guy works at a dealership but does body work on the side. I've seen a couple of his jobs before agreeing to go with him and it seems like he does good work.
I plan to order a SS hood next month. If the GP is still going by then (not done yet) you can count me in.
EDIT: Scratch that. I just read that they are not functional, cause heat issues, and are a PITA to open. Nevermind, I dont want one ...

yeah, i read the description on the website and it says it is not functional. But other people who own them say the front is actually open. That is all I am looking for. Also I read that the rear of the hood can be modified to work as cowl induction. as for heat issues, are you talking about them saying that it brings heat into the car? If you think about it, wouldnt a cowl hood have the same effect? Besides, I think that could be resolved fairly easily.

I dont see that any of the issues anyone has talked about are really much of an issue to begin with. I have done a search on the hood and have read nothing but good things except for the few people who make a big deal out of a small inconvenience. I am all about buying this hood. I cannot wait until this hood is mine.
I also read that it is an open "scoop." I also read someone saying they made a solenoid opereated flap to open and close to keep rain out of the carb. And another who blocked off the front scoop and left it for show but made the hood functional cowl induction. So it is up to you, but I am really into buying this hood.

Im "IN" for the group purchase on the SS hood, if there is still one. Both Hawks and 3rd Gen Resource want $450 so if theres a 10% discount it would bring it down to like $405. Pretty good I think. Im willing to wait a couple weeks if theres not enough people but Im ready now.

Please read what I posted above. If you are seriously interested, call them. That's how it works. you tell them you want in on the thirdgen GP for the hoods, and when 5 people call them, We would all get messages saying the 10% off thing is valid. I'm about to do the Hawk's thing since I'm solo on this it appears.
