need help removing the console lid

I removed the rear ashtray, and there is a spring attached to a clip and the arm that holds the door up. I can't get the ****ing thing off. Can someone give me dummy directions to remove this spring? I've tried grabbing it with pliers but either i'm weak, or it's just cause i'm a female. Oh, and ya might as well tell me how to put it back on. It looks pretty simple but removing it looked simple too!

I'm trying to replace the lid, mine is shot!

Thanx guys

Do you need to remove the lid (arm rest) or the ash tray?

Arm rest, and I figured it out. For anyone else who wants to know, slide that clip down (use pliers) while still attached to the spring, then undo the spring from the clip, then pull it up thru the top hole, and then remove the other half of the spring. Reverse steps to install.

Good luck

I took off the spring to the curved metal so it wouldnt bend my hinges anymore, i straightened my hinge witha hammer and i just need a whole new lid because i cant make it look right with the cover coming off and the latch is broken. i wish i had a camera i'd post pics
