headrest removal

Hi All,

Have a set of buckets out of an '87 in my '67, I would like to remove the headrests so they appear closer to the originals. Anyone know how this is done? Thx for your time!

Hey Kevin, pull the headrest to it's full up position. There is a internal release mech. in the seat.Insert a hose clamp in the front of the post.Push down slowly on the headrest and hose clamp at the same time. The hose clamp should go in a little, when it does, hold the clamp firmly and pull the headrest out.I'm sure they make a specific tool for this, but headrest removal is a once in a blue moon event for most.To re-install,simply push the headrest back in the seat.In your case however it is going to leave a rather un-attractive hole behind.Probably a good candidate for seat covers, especially if the color of the seats doesn't match your car.Good Luck.

Sometimes you have to use two bars depending on the seats - I know I had to with the Camaro ones I had. One bar in the front and one in the back does the trick.
