My temperature gauge
My temperature gauge
I have a 88 Camaro 305. My temperature gauge is broken. The hand is right at the top, as if the spring is broken. In order to fix this, would I need to take the dash off, or is there an eaiser way? Also, could it be a wiring problem?

nope, if the gauge itself is broken, I think your only alternative is to pull the whole cluster, I know its not had on the Firebird, don't think its much harder on the Camaro...

You dont have to pull the dash. Take out the 8 torx head screws holding the black gauge cover on. Pull the gauge cover off. Remove the 4 9/32 screws holding the lens / metal reflector on. Remove the lens/reflector. Remove the 2 9/32 screws that hold the temp gauge in. Pull out the gauge.........After you remove the lens/reflector, move the pointer on the gauge to the middle and turn the key on. If the gauge moves to the bottom it was just stuck. If it doesnt move its no good. I had this same problem on my car. The needle was just stuck on the edge of the gauge. I hope this helps.
