Cleaning the headliner?

The person before me must have smoked in the car because the headliner seems to have some stains towards the rear of the car. The headliner is in perfect cond. no sags no rips! How do I go about cleaning this w/out disturbing the adhesive on the other side? I think carpet cleaner and a brush might be too much. I'm just afraid of ruining a good thing! Thanx guys....:hail:

take a rag and spray it with some sorta all purpose cleaner(simple green) Don't soak it and wipe the head liner it will work and not affect the adhesive
